Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Well put on the Moon thing - total agreeance.

All suspension mounts are ugly, with the exception of the Atlas Mount

DW lugs are hideous-and the drums aren't any better then anybody elses.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Im really gonna dig my own grave here:

1) 4 piece kits bring me down.

2) I like fades and stains. Sparkle and oyster finishes, to me, are "old man" finishes. (I can say this, since Im an old...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Didn't read whole thread, but heres mine - Bonham. I don't ever need to hear his name again. I love Ludwigs, I cannot stand Zeppelin. The guy was great, no doubt - but since I would rather listen to...

Re: How do you manage to transport hardware without having it all in one super heavy bag?

I never tore down hardware, other then the boom arms themselves, and disconnecting rack sections. I always had a full size van. I used a double bass set up (for a country band!) for years, including...

Re: Which Ludwig kit?

Interesting! I did not know the Rockers were made in America.

I concur with the Club Dates - Ive been watching videos of em, and they sound amazing. C'mon tax return!!

Re: Ludwig vistalites

While not Ludwigs, I love my Crush acrylics. I put coated G2s on em, and they sound amazing. You would never listen to this kit with your eyes closed and think they werent anything but wood.

Re: Shopping for a used mid-price kit: When did this fad for deep bass drums start?

I feel your pain!

Ive been debating between getting a new Ludwig Keystone or CM kit...leaning towards the Keystone, but I want a 14x22 kick. Cant get one, they have a 14x24 avialable though.

Re: Acoustic vs. Electronic

I dont even touch my ekit at all, except when recording. Theres nothing quite as simple as plugging two jacks in and getting a big, fat drum sound in about 20 seconds - but even for lower volume...

Re: Thinking about getting some Ludwig Classics.

Great choice!

I'm going to be ordering a kit soon myself, and I'm leaning towards a 14x24. I have a 6 ply maple set from 85 with that size, and it just kills. On the other hand, if I decide to do...

Re: Has anyone seen the Ludwig Aquaburst finish yet?

On their website they still list purple...something. I cant remember the name, but its a stain. Thats another color Ive never seen a good pic of. Its not in the new catalog though.

Seriously,...

Has anyone seen the Ludwig Aquaburst finish yet?

Theres a small pic in the new catalog, but thats it. Have any of these shown up at your local drumshop yet? I'd love to see some better quality pics.

Re: Have you ever answered a Craigslist add to tell them their ad sucks?

What kills me is the guys selling 20 yr old garbage (CB700, early Exports, whatever) for ridiculous prices. I hope beginners do their research and dont fall for that stuff. Even if it comes with...

Re: What did you pay, back in the day?

It would appear so! It was a Rockstar Pro kit, which I think just meant lacquered finishes..came with garabage Stilt hardware. Mom and pop shop.

What did you pay, back in the day?

The other day I was talking to a buddy about how absurdly priced top of the line kits were, and how basically, with a good sound man, nobody in the club is gonna know the difference between middle of...

Re: New Ludwig USA Finishes

I'm the oppositte - I think the lack of modern finishes may be hurting Ludwigs sales. Keep in mind I absolutely LOVE Ludwigs, by far my favorite drums. Also keep in mind when I say this that Im an...

Re: Heavens Alive! Pearl Have Done It At Last!

Are they also getting rid of those stupid tubular tom arms? You know how you can by a tom from any other manufacturer, and whatever suspension mount they use will fit on a Tama, Gibraltar or whatever...
