Now that's one classy looking snare!

Re: Yamaha recording customs on the way!

I envy you getting a set of Recording Customs. My local drum shop had a new 4-piece kit in piano black just before Yamaha stopped production and now I'm kicking myself for not buying them. I think...

Re: Show us your 3 piece kits!

Stunning kit! Please tell me you have something under the bass drum protecting it from all those stones.

Re: May buy a new drum today!?

You need to provide us with more information. How old is the kit and in what condition? Does it include a snare? These are generally good drums but there have been several eras of Stage Customs, some...

Re: Acoustic Kit with Mutes vs. Electronic Kit

Welcome to the forum! Over the years I've put together a decent e-kit for the same reason, to reduce the overall volume. I think rubber pads are still going to be problematic in your situation....

Re: Copper Phonic Video Demo

It's interesting to see the differences in the patina of the copper finish from one drum to another. The recent photo postings from online retailers look very different from those at the January NAMM...

Re: New Pearl Wood Fiberglass

Thanks for posting that photo. I don't know if it was here or on another forum but someone wanted to drill for a bass drum mount on one of the new DW acrylic kits. They asked DW Customer Service for...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Thanks for posting. So, is the lower contact point bolted to the shell or is it simply resting against the black rubber protrusion from the mounting hardware?

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Nice score! Can you describe the mounting system for the rack tom? Is it fastened to the shell or the lugs? From the stock photos it looks like it has a 3-point connection.

Re: Roland TD12 or TD20 what do i need to know???

I have a TD-12 module that I'm very happy with. It was probably 5-6 years ago when I was in a similar situation as you are now, trying to decide between the TD-12 and TD-20. I already had a set of...

Re: Ever have a drums finish sway you away from purchasing it?

Yeah, I agree with you on that one even though it's being offered at a great price for a maple kit. It reminds me of some of the "racing stripe" finishes being offered.

Re: Ever have a drums finish sway you away from purchasing it?

Funny you should ask. A few years back I wanted a Ludwig Keystone kit but didn't really like any of the finishes available. What I really wanted was the limited edition Black Abalone finish available...

Re: Ever have a drums finish sway you away from purchasing it?

Despite their great price when they were being blown out a few years back, I just couldn't pull the trigger on the Gretsch '57 Motor City kits because of the rather gaudy chevrons. I've since learned...

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

Any idea if the patina on this particular copper snare will change with age?

Re: Show us your "Acrylics"

One of the things on my bucket list is to one day be able to play a kit like this, even for only hour. I bet it would be a blast. I'm curious, though, did you really use every drum in the kit during...

Re: Gretsch difference

The slate silver is a beautiful lacquer finish. One thing I've noticed on a few kits with this finish (as well as the inca gold lacquer finish of the same era) is the tendency to develop small spider...

Re: Two New Gretsch Renown Series

It's interesting that the interior ply of the shells are natural, with no silver sealer like the other Renown offerings.

Re: NAMM 2015 - what do you expect to see?

Bermuda,

I noticed that the concert toms on Ludwig's big display kit don't have the usual black protective ring at the bottom. Have these now been done away with?

Stellar prices, service, and communication. Steve is the man! I've purchased hardware, cases, and a Ludwig snare through Russo and have had nothing but positive experiences each. This is the way...

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic -50th year edition

My understanding is that the only difference between this and a standard issue supra is the limited edition badge and accompanying certificate. That's not enough to make me want one of these. In...

Re: Pulled the trigger on a set of Gretsch New Classics!

I was very sorry to hear that you had to pass on the New Classic kit. It's good, however, to know that you've got your priorities straight. As others have said, you'll eventually get a new kit and...

Re: Pulled the trigger on a set of Gretsch New Classics!

Congratulations on your new kit! I've enjoyed reading over the past few weeks your accounts of trying various kits, most notably the Gretsch Renown and New Classic series. You've obviously put a lot...

Re: Looking for new kit with vintage sound?

I'm curious where you can find New Classics for that price? I've seen NOS Renown kits for under $1000, but not New Classics.
