You are right. After posting this I did a Google search for the snare (the hardest piece to find). There is a shop here in Chicago that has the exact set I wanted with the snare. Going to look at...

I'm teetering on one of these kits too. Two places here in Chicago have them on the floor. One has that short kick. Three piece. The other place has the large kick and the four piece.

So you endorse double ply heads on the harder woods? The yammies come with Emporers. I might go thicker than that. Make them nice and fat.

That is a great deal. And I would get the newer ones with YESS and smaller lugs, not a used set. If you look on GC's web site you can find more add-on toms for them than for anyone else. Upgrades...

Having had all three, I say anything but DW. Nice. Not worth the price. The mid-level Yamaha and Sonor kits rocked my Collector's set for consistency and build quality.
I like DW hardware better....
