Re: Basic A/V Recording for Drums

The problem I see with the iM2 is that it mounts right to the iphone limiting positioning. Tascam makes another product that I just found called iXZ which looks like it does the same thing as the...

Re: Basic A/V Recording for Drums

You can get an XLR adapter to plug a regular dynamic mic into an iphone. (No condenser since no phantom power.) I got one from amazon for $30. Maybe a bit pricey for a little wire but it works. I...

Re: Drummer and Musician apps for Iphone or Android

Not sure exactly what you mean by "music writing". You mentioned protools so I'm thinking you mean a multi-track recorder app. If that's the case, the best one I've found is "MultiTrack DAW". It's...

Re: *Best iPad Apps

I use Multi Track DAW on the iphone instead of garage band. It's simpler without the 1gig of toys that you'll never use in garage band. It seems more geared toward pro musicians in general, where...

Re: 12x8 vs 13x9 tom on a four piece kit

I'm playing a 12 now with a 16 and it works just fine especially with a 14 set up sometimes too. I've used 12-14 and like it, probably more because of the shallower depth of the 14 over the 16. ...

Re: Going off the Preferred set up thread...

Yes I think most people's setup evolves over time. When people first start playing, they often try to mimic the drummers who inspire them. Even to the point of equipment. There's nothing wrong...

Re: Converting a rack tom to a floor....?

It's easy. I've done it to a 14x12 tom. Couple of things:

1. See if you can get some specs from a reputable source, preferably the manufacturer. In my case it was a Pearl tom and I found the...

Re: Watch your tempo with the liveBPM app

I bought it. It jumps around a little with the practice pad. It will probably work better playing a groove with the kit.

Re: 30 Richest Drummers.

Interesting.
I'm inspired now to try to get on that list. I'm going to stop and play the lottery today.

Re: One Rack Tom vs. Multiple Rack Toms

The downside is that I have to carry a double tom stand which is heavier than the drum, as opposed to hanging one tom off of an existing cymbal stand. If it wasn't for that extra stand I'd take that...

Re: Xylophone

If I had to pick just one I'd say Morris Goldenberg's "Modern School for Xylophone". It's a classic, everybody knows that book. It's got basic scales and some useful orchestral excerpts too.

Re: I may have to really like these (again)...

I also use a rug for every gig so the velcro isn't an issue for me either. It makes setup faster even though it's one more thing to cart around because I have the layout of the pedals and such...

Re: I may have to really like these (again)...

I have an older (early-mid 90s) DW5000 double and recently went looking for a new replacement. The new 5000s were a big disappointment for me. They felt a lot heavier and sluggish compared to the...

Pearl 14x12 Floor Tom help

I've decided to convert my pearl prestige session (mid 90's) 14x12 mounted tom to a floor tom. Ordered the mounts and legs and am going to do the job myself.

My question is regarding the...

Re: Is it OK to lead with your left hand?

While I can't say what's ok for you, I can say it's ok for me. That's how I play.
