Re: Do drummers lose points for disassembling the moment the show is done?

So Pocket-full-of-gold and Naigewron, glad you guys brought up how in the real world they might rush you off the stage. But wouldn't it still be better to wait for at least half a minute when no one...

Do drummers lose points for disassembling the moment the show is done?

Sorry if this question doesn't really make sense. I can't really put my finger on exactly why this would be. But when I go to a venue to see live bands, I might think a band I've never seen before is...

Do you appreciate having more than just the band watch as you try out?..

Was wondering if most of you guys would appreciate it if a band you're trying out for has more than just band members watching as you try out. Such as girlfriends, friends or a manager... Do you guys...

How does a band keep a drummer?....

First off, let me explain that I'm not the drummer of the band I'm in. I tried out as the drummer, wasn't good enough, but they let me be the guitarist which I'm very excited about!...

Anyway,...

Who wants to join this Thrash Metal band in Millis Mass?...

This is the band I've been playing guitar with (although I originally tried out as the drummer)...

The bands biggest problem now is the current drummer won't show up for practice. It's been an...

How come Bass amps usually go on the left of the stage?

Just wondering how it came to be that usually a bass player and his amp are on the left of the stage (or right if you're on the stage)? Is it because the floor tom helps act as a sound barrier...

If you play Speed Metal, Black Metal or Death Metal did you start off that way?

For you guys who play the Speed Metal, Black Metal or Death Metal which requires serious stamina. I was wondering if you guys started out playing that kind of music or did you first start off playing...

Do you guys have double pedal problems with the left pedal drifting forward?

I'm having problems with my left side pedal for the double bass slowly vibrating forward while I'm playing it. I already have the spikes for it turned all the way clockwise. Do any of you guys have...

What diameter is Gibraltar tube and what's compatible with it?

What's the diameter of the tube for drum racks? Is it a common diameter like 1 1/4" or is it something weird so you can't buy it in a hardware store wether it's standard or metric? Do other brands of...

Re: Cars/trucks for gigging. Which ones do you use?

Are you using 1 or 2 bass drums? what size? If it's just 1 bass drum a 5 piece kit should be able to fit in anything if it's just you and your kit. If you're not going to be having 2 bass drums, I'd...

Re: Wondering what everyone has to say about trying to make a living drumming?

Hey Gvdrummasum. Exactly what do you mean by this? I guess on craigslist your ad wouldn't say "Drummer looking for band" but what's an example of what it would say?

Re: Wondering what everyone has to say about trying to make a living drumming?

What do you think makes a mid level band? Between what and what per gig?

Re: If you have multiple kits, what's for the practice space, what's for home and what's for gigs?

Interesting thing to say. Have you actually done this? If so what made you think the band was going to split and what did you say to them about it before you took the kit? Doing so seems like it...

If you have multiple kits, what's for the practice space, what's for home and what's for gigs?

I only have one kit currently... A Pearl 5 piece with 20 inch Bass and Sabian cymbals. But I plan on buying whatever I can find on craigslist for a bargain once I get accepted into a band so I have...

Re: How do you ask about a bands financial situation without sounding nosey or like a chump?

Can you tell me more about this? I'm now just learning about places that charge on an hourly basis like that then have storage fee's. I've never seen that before. I guess it's common where you live...

Re: How do you ask about a bands financial situation without sounding nosey or like a chump?

Yeah, I'm getting $1080 when I calculate it.... It's money I wouldn't be happy about seeing go. I should have asked the guy "Do lots of hot chicks go to your show?". If the answer is yes I think it's...

Re: How do you ask about a bands financial situation without sounding nosey or like a chump?

Lets see, 30 + 5 is 35 a week. 35x4 is 140 a month.. Then I multiply 140 by about 1.6 for the currency exchange. I get $224 if I use 1.6, How big is the room you're getting? And what is the storage...

Re: How do you ask about a bands financial situation without sounding nosey or like a chump?

No, 275 a month for a practice space is cheap! I like this space too, it is an industrial mill next to the railroad, it literally has 3 locks on each door (never seen that before). It's very small...

How do you ask about a bands financial situation without sounding nosey or like a chump?

While I was at an audition yesterday the leader of the band told me the practice space is 275 a month and being that it's a trio, i've got to come up with 91.66 a month if I want to be in the band......
