Thanks, Powerstroke. Oh and by the way, what do you think Claus Hessler is doing here?

Re: Wrist training
Okay thanks. I only have a practice pad only the summer and I do have that book so I'll try it. Do you practice it with loud strokes (full) or what?

Wrist training
Hi everyone, I have a technique question, especially for those of you who have really good matched grip technique.
I've been having a problem with my left hand for a while now (like every...

Re: A muscle question
Hey, this post reminded me of something I was wondering.
Can you have really good slow-twicth AND fast twitch fibers with the same muscle?
Because I work out and lift weights, but I'm also...

Re: killer hand exercises I was taught
Hi Alex. I really like this lever system, it seems like the most natural way to play. It's how our body is supposed to work.
I think a lot of good self-taught drummers do this and they probably...

Re: building speed
Large toms actually do offer enough rebound for the stick to go back, if your technique is right.
Oh and I think if you want to work on your rolls on large toms, YOU SHOULD PRACTICE ON LARGE TOMS.

Open handed soreness
I've been playing open handed for a little while now and I'll always get sore in my left hand from leading on the high hat. For those that play open handed, does this happen to anyone else, and when...

Re: Important drum-health question
"More people die of properly used prescription drugs than cancer, AIDS and smoking combined..." This has to be a joke, right. Because it's not true.

Re: pro drummers with bad technique
By bad technique, he might just mean his particular playing wasn't the safest way to go for his body. To me technique means the physical aspect of playing drums, motions, grips, etc.

Re: AMERICAN GRIP QUESTION
I agree with the American grip being a waving motion, downward, with the thumb obviously being more on top. So this means there is also elements of the French grip involved, like pivoting the wrist...

Re: Ringo Starr
I'm with Laurent. To me, Ringo Starr was an average drummer who played for the songs, a team player. Like (gulp) Charlie Watts.

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness
Wow, just from reading some of these posts, I think drummers have the lowest self esteem.
Maybe not self-esteem, but I'd bet they're some of the hardest on themselves.

Re: Thumb up / Thumb on side
I think if you're playing jazz, or any kind of intricate softer playing, it's easiest to go with a more thumb-up grip. It's easier for me to comp that way, as oppose to German, but some people can...
