Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin!

Quick question...do you ever get cramps in your thighs from sitting so low? We're the same height (6'2) and I also sit fairly low, but I seem to cramp up sometimes. When I sit higher,...

Re: Pat Petrillo here!

Hey Pat! Just curious if you're still doing lessons in Jersey? I really feel it's time for lessons (after procrastinating for 4 years!) and I wasn't sure where to look until I saw that you do them....

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin! Just a quick question...I recently picked up an S-Hoop for my snare, and it is amazing. So comfortable when doing rimshots, and I'm actually liking the sound I get with it as well. My...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

I agree about "19 Days!" The drumming is, as usual, amazing! It is what finally gave me that "HOLY CRAP I GET IT!" moment with crazy odd times. I would have always thought counting 19/8 would be...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Thanks everyone! I don't necessarily need the click for odd-times (even though it didn't seem that way) but more towards a different sound. For instance, when the click sounds like a cowbell, it...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin, just curious, what metronome would you suggest for being able to program odd timed clicks. Also, is there a metronome that has different sounds for the click? I currently use a VERY basic...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin, just a quick question...Are you familiar with the tour Mike Portnoy put together, The Progressive Nation tour? Well, anyway, my question is, would there be a chance of Porcupine Tree, or...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Ok, cool, so I guess I'll just have to deal with the cramps like I've been doing lol. Maybe do a few more hand exercises or something. Thanks again for the help! There isn't a chance you could help...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Not blasting speeds, but if I'm doing fast 16ths on the hi hats, sometimes my hand will cramp and start to hurt, so I'll slow down to 8th notes, which changes the feel of the song. I was just curious...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin, I saw you mentioned you're approach to gripping the sticks, and I just had a few questions. I actually play the same way (all the way back on the stick) and I noticed at higher speeds,...

I've recently had the pleasure of seeing your stuff for the first time, and WOW! I was looking on the S-Hoops site, as I've been extremely interested in them recently, and I came across your video on...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

I think that's my problem. I'm the same height, and I feel like I sit too close. I'll definitely have to try that. Thanks!
Josh

P.S. It's good to see a taller drummer! Everyone seems to be so...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Your kit makes me smile everytime I see it. It looks so comfy, and I always wish I could sit behind it and play it! Just a question though...do you move your throne in a little when playing, or do...

Hey Gavin! I know I'll be beating a dead horse with this one, but I'll ask anyway (if you don't want to answer, I understand! :) What is the exact size (or close proximity) to your 5 bells. Reason...

Re: Chad Smith

Not even close to being overrated...nobody is on here giving him praise that he is the BEST drummer. The point is, he is a good, solid drummer, who plays for the song. Every time I listen to him, it...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

I know he does use 8 strands on his snare (not sure if it's on all of them) so that has something to do with it. I just recently did this to my snare, and it sounds awesome. You would think, less...
