Re: Natal drums

A 5-second google search:

The kit features 6-ply poplar shells with a great-looking gray strata wrap.

Re: Stolen Gear

Yes, back in the 1990s, I was 6 hours from home in Chattanooga, TN. I was staying with a friend of mine, and we rehearsed that night, so I took in my kick, snare, hardware, and cymbals. I was...

Re: The 16x14 floor tom

I own a 16 x 16 and a 16 x 14 USA Pork Pie Custom maple floor tom. Both sound great and are easy to tune in my book.

Re: Ever bought a recording just because it featured the kind of drums you have?

Ever bought a recording just because it featured the kind of drums you have?

This is probably really silly, but I want to make sure I'm not alone.

Have you ever bought a recording just because the drummer used the same kind of drums (or other equipment) that you use?

Re: Drum gear gimmicks that didn't really catch on

As much as I geek out on drum stuff, I'm surprised I've not heard of some of this stuff...

Geez, how much did those vari-pitch drums weigh?

Did the PTS drums just clamp their heads down with no...

Re: Who's got the best brand name...

Wow, that's really confusing.

I just now figured out how to pronounce Meinl correctly.

Re: HITTING Sticks together Accidentally ?

Practice and slow down.

When I first started, I swear I used to hit everything but the drum heads. I'd love to know how many times I hit the rims those first weeks.

Re: Are We Just Being Silly?

We are not being any more silly than people putting a ball through a hoop with a net on it.

Re: Boutique snare drums-roadworthy?

I think as long as you take care of your equipment, it should be ok. Just use common sense and buy a hard case. Drums are made of plies, so they super-durable. As far as the hardware, it seems...

Re: Our dance band was hired as background music

We call these "wallpaper gigs." We are there, but no one cares. We are just wallpaper...being used to "decorate" the place for a while.

One of our best-paying gigs of the year is like this. I...

Re: Shine Drums

I think generally speaking, drum names are just weird...just about all of them. PDP? Sounds like me teaching my kid potty training. Mapex? Tama? Zildjian? Pork Pie? I think they are all sort of...

Re: Did recording yourself make you a better player, and how?

It made me a better player, that's for sure.

Here's the thing when it comes to recording yourself: You HAVE to leave some room in your thoughts to compliment yourself on the things you did well. ...

Re: Why Modern Pop Music Is So Awful To Some!!!

There's something funny about pop music these days.

When I was a kid (including all of the 1980s and early 1990s), the music on the radio made me WANT to play music. There were so many drum...

Yes, I'm quoting myself here... :)

Church gigs are so very different than anything else. Once again, everything is based on region. This is solely from my experience.

I was going to say both of these, and you beat me to it.

In addition, the genre you want to play and the genre you get to play can be two totally different things if you aren't willing to move. ...

Re: Can you be a good drummer with bad math skills?

Yes, I have terrible math skills.
