Re: Improvising fills

This is where I land as well.

Early on plenty of formal training, but comfort to pop off a fill whenever required became second nature only through playing, and I purposely avoid playing the exact...

Re: Solid Shell Snare Drum Owner's, help me out.

I also have a 14x5.25" DW Craviotto maple shell and while I like the drum it does have some interesting characteristics:

- More sensitive than my ply snares, and my stave snare (but my stave is...

Re: Memphis Drum Shop- Is it me, or is this drum shop snare demo really unkind to the drum?

Holy steaming Crap on a plate.

That kit sounds like what I would expect an old Export to sound like if someone pulled it out of a storage unit after 15 years......

I'm sure there are those that...

Re: What you learn from 'taking over'

Interesting post and topic as it obviously happens all the time where people take over for an existing player. Especially where the music is documented via recordings.

Sometimes the greatest...

Re: Let Them Ring To Sing

I always have rings for the snare to be ready and regularly use the smallest one and I have moon gel that is old as hell now as I never use it. I leave everything but the snare wide open. Bass has...

Re: Raising your game to work with pro's. Tips, tricks and advice?

Years ago when I started playing with really seasoned and outstanding musicians the bassist, who was the band leader told me his perspective was simple, Nail the beginnings and endings of the songs...

Re: Does this sound like a lack of professionalism?

This.

I love playing, I never really enjoyed "having" to play......

When I was younger or in my college bands I didn't give a shit if we only made short money for a gig since my essentials...

Bo you can't be serious? USA Customs to Sessions? While I admire your open mind on things, aren't these Birch/Mahog Sessions targeted at the folks looking at Stage Customs etc.?

I admire Pearl's...

Re: Yamaha Live Custom sound test

This better represents my comments....

I was remiss in my earlier comment to not mention the OP's playing, solid, very solid, nice and relaxed, nice job bud.

Re: Yamaha Live Custom sound test

Agree with this ^ as well....

It sounds like you are running your top heads really loose....like single ply loose sounding so I am getting mostly top head without much of the "drum"...

Re: PLS HELP,DW CRAVIOTTO WITHOUT JOHN CRAVIOTTO SIGNATURE

I have one signed from like 2002 or 2003 or so. (the one in my avatar).

Re: Hypocrisy....owning up

I remember the 80s Export I had had basic memory locks but they just helped keep them in position. This new cocktail kit by the OP looks like leaps and bounds above that.

As far as that old band,...

Re: Hypocrisy....owning up

And at the end of the day,...
