Re: Crazy Ass Deals. Legit?

Back in the day, evilBay used to make its sellers only pay fees based on sell price, not shipping price. I remember seeing top-of-the-line drum sets having a "buy it now" price at like $500, but the...

Re: Favorite high end drum kit- model and brand?

If you can try out a Sakae Almighty Birch, do it. I would love to try one out some day. EVERY video I've listened to sounds out of this world.

Re: Lincoln Center Jazz Drummer job vacancy

I'm going to apply to see if I can get an interview, just so I can tell them the following:

My whole philosophy revolves around showmanship, five facets in particular:

The gear
The threads...

Re: Push Kick Drum Forward to Lower Toms

Buy a kit that has a shallow rack tom and a 20" kick (or smaller).

My Ludwig Centennials have a shallow rack tom and a 20" kick. If I wanted, I could get the tom the same level as my snare.

Re: To rack or not to rack?

I only saw one in person and a few online. They were all black.

There was one called the DrumFrame V2L, and there was another one called the DrumFrame VX-EZ. It costed over $1k when it was new. ...

Re: To rack or not to rack?

I'm in the same boat, brother. If I knew it would save time and energy, I would look more seriously into it; however, I really don't think it will.

Re: Can u buy drum wrap from DW?

They sent me a broken glass finish and it didn't look that great (well, not as good as the DW wrap); however, I think it may have had the light backing one. Do you have pics of your kit wrapped with...

Re: Can u buy drum wrap from DW?

Does DW actually wrap anything anymore, or do they use lacquer for everything now?

Either way, just about everyone uses the same Delmar-type wrap. Just find a company that sells it and order from...

Reverie Drums?

Our church is looking at buying a set of Reverie drums.

Anyone ever play them? Of course they sound good online (but Basix drums sound good online, so there's that).

Are they another Keller...

Re: Favorite high end drum kit- model and brand?

Yup, once you get to a certain price point, the world is your oyster. Most importantly, pick something that sounds good to YOU.

I love Pork Pie USA kits because they sound absolutely fabulous...

Re: How do you practice?

I don't practice unless there are tricky drum parts I need to work out before band rehearsal. Otherwise, I never practice. I learn about 3-4 times as much playing with others as opposed to sitting...

Re: To rack or not to rack?

While a lot of people use them and enjoy them, every drummer I know personally went through "rack phase," and EVERY drummer ended up selling it at a major loss.

Re: Ever had a band practice or jam session with you facing the wall?

I bet that's just the way the drums were stored. I prefer my band mates being able to see my ugly mug during practice.

Re: Different finish kick and toms

If the kit sounded good together, I personally wouldn't care.

If I really wanted everything to match but didn't want to spend a lot of money, I'd do BumWrap on everything. Otherwise I don't think...

Re: Flaw in Green Glass Glitter finish

I've never seen this, even on the cheapest of drum sets (including stencil sets).

There's also the rare case that this could be an amateur re-wrap and he/she used a flawed wrap, but who knows?
