Re: Drumless backing tracks for training.

Thanks for sharing! I've been on spotify for a few years now, and had know idea they had something like this. I had never thought of searching spotify for drumless tracks.

Re: Does DW re cut drums?

I would think it would be a hell of a lot easier, and more cost effective for DW to just take the hardware off your drum and put it on a new shell?

Re: Question about Shell Tone and Tuning w/Tune-Bot

My understanding of the notes stamped inside DW's shells is that they are there to insure there is enough separation between the drums. So if you have a 12 and a 13 tom you don't end up with a 13...

Re: What is the name of this specific fill/pattern?

Todd Sucherman does a great job of explaining the lick - click here (https://youtu.be/7VJvpEvdbrg)

Re: Drummers with Chops who don't Play on the Beat, play fills at wrong time, etc.

Exactly!

A "lick" that can't be played in a musical context is just a trick.

Re: Why is it harder to hit lighter?

Because it takes control

Re: Time discussion....is that 7/4 or 7/8?

Exactly! Unless you're intentionlly trying to complicate things, there is no reason to look at the verse as anything other than alternating bars of 3/4 and 4/4, or 7/4.

Re: Time discussion....is that 7/4 or 7/8?

That's not at all how I hear it.

Listen to the hi-hat. The drummer is playing quarter notes, and it's a 7 beat phrase. It feels very 3/4 + 4/4, or 7/4 if you like.

Re: Time discussion....is that 7/4 or 7/8?

I believe the verses are 7/4. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but if you play quarter notes in 7/4 you're always on the beat. If you play quarters in 7/8 you're on the beat the first...

Re: Wearing watches while drumming

I wear mine on light and medium gigs, and have had no issues. On heavier playing gigs I leave it at home rather than taking it on and off.

Re: Anyone here play 3 up with 10/12/14 on a rack?

I play with this exact setup using an icon rack with the front curved bar. No issues at all with this setup. Actually it works much better with 3 up and 1 down then 2 up and 2 down. When I tried 2 up...

Re: Pearl Reference, Tama StarClassic Bubinga, or DW Collector Maple?

Well if projection is what you want, then I'd stay away from DW's.

I sure you already realize this, but you can't go by the number of plys. One ply can be 1/16 on an inch or it can be a 1/4 of an...

Re: Pearl Reference, Tama StarClassic Bubinga, or DW Collector Maple?

I really think that it's impossible to tell if you REALLY like a kit unless you can play it over a period of time, in several different rooms and playing situations. The good thing is there are so...

Re: Pearl Reference, Tama StarClassic Bubinga, or DW Collector Maple?

Never meant to start a "Lars Bash".

I do find your 3 choices very interesting in that I would say that they sound nothing alike. I would suggest you spend some time playing each of those brands to...

[QUOTE=metallica246810;561154]

I'm counting out Gretsch, they simply don't impress me, that's all there is to it. Sorry to disappoint, Gretsch fans.

Well that's just funny, because...
