Re: Headphones and electronic kits - bad for the ears?

I had my dad wear my headphones while I played at a volume that was normal for me. He said I had the volume considerably lower than the level he listens to his own music at. I suppose I have very...

Re: Headphones and electronic kits - bad for the ears?

Thanks for the info. That's an interesting idea, but I just bought these isolation headphones and I think I am past the return date. I would like to work with what I have and not buy another...

Re: Headphones and electronic kits - bad for the ears?

Going to revive an old thread here. I recently swapped my current headphones for a pair of isolation headphones, which cuts down on the rubber pad noise. While it sounds much nicer, I am still...

Stress fractures?

Anyone ever have, or heard of, stress fractures in the foot from kick drum playing?

I don't have any symptoms of one, or anything like that. But am just curious because I would want to take...

Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

Now that I think more on it, here's a question for anyone who has recorded.

What do you do, personally, if you record a track that is completely perfect, except for one little thing that sounds...

Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

Well, what do I know. :D Not something I've ever had to do personally. I like what's on the track to be an accurate reflection of my playing. I can see though how if there are time constraints or...

Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

That's if you record MIDI and not raw audio.

Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

I have made drum videos and to be honest, I think that would be kind of hard. Say I hit the snare a little off beat. I would have to copy-paste that sound into the correct spot in the track, which...

Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

Are you talking about correcting the drum track to align with the rest of the audio, or aligning the sound with the video?

Re: How long before we 3D print drum gear?

Print square ones so they don't roll away so easily!

Re: How long before we 3D print drum gear?

I don't think metal is out of the question. They are working on 3D printing human organs after all.

A future generation printer may be able to work with metals, as well as be affordable enough to...

How long before we 3D print drum gear?

3D printing seems to be a very up-and-coming technology. They are talking right now about 3D printing houses...

Re: Can you sit comfortably at an E-kit?

You cannot do that on this kit, as there is no room to move the pads around. See the above photo. The toms can really only sit in that one spot.

I did learn that you can get longer pipes for the...

Can you sit comfortably at an E-kit?

I am currently using an e-kit (Yamaha DTX520K), and have been finding that no matter how I position the kit, I can't seem to get comfortable. I either feel too close or too far away, and sometimes I...

What would you call this kind of rhythm?

I just made this cover and am trying to think of what this rhythm is called. I'm guessing a funk shuffle, maybe?

Am I leaning over too much?

Does this look like poor posture? Here's a video for reference.

Re: Why do we assume that handmade is better?

I worked in a country where a lot of bakeries touted their goods as being "hand made." I thought ewww, that means they keep putting their fingers in them!

Re: Erroneously entitled: "Nobody Cares"

This is probably mostly true, though a guitarist I played with said he really liked how expressive my ride cymbal was. (It was a 22" Meinl Amun big bell power ride, no longer manufactured)

One...

Re: Headphones and electronic kits - bad for the ears?

I got the iPod app dB Meter Pro, and tested the kit noise levels.

The rubber kick pad seemed to peak at 90 dB. The headphone volume went just below 80 at the volume I normally play at, and peaked...

Re: Fastest Drummer's remorse has ever set in?

I would think that you could take it to Guitar Center, explain the situation and swap the pedal out.
