Re: Does playing covers change you?

It's the simple and slow stuff that always kills me. I was playing the repetitive snare cadence on Bolero for a civic orchestra. I practiced with a Youtube video that did it at a pretty good clip...

Re: & here I go again :) :(

Should have qualified kicking off with the third song. Ha,ha
I never noticed how much you lead off with your right hand on some of your snare accents-awesome. I really like the third song. You...

Re: & here I go again :) :(

So this time it is you and on Guru's? I was confused earlier-which happens more and more lately ; ). Great job Andy-nice driving kick, snare and cymbal accents-accompanies the music perfectly. Drums...

Re: Are you a drum person or a cymbal person

Well I'm bringing the sticks, brushes, and rutes. Cause you need them to play either. We can bargain like Cutthroat Kitchen I'll trade you one stick for snare?

Re: I'm starting to enjoy myself :)

Golly the singer sounds a bit like a mix of Chrissie Hyndi and Geddy Lee. And it's a trio. Now that a "rush". Hee,hee, hee. Good drumming as usual Andy. It's fun doing different genre to push yourself...

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

It was like Apocalypse Now-the horror! It was my own fault coming to a gig completely unprepared. It was humiliating-like a deer in headlights at the one practice before the gig that evening....

Re: another snare buzz thread

Ha, ha, ha. I've got a number of snares in the same room and sometimes you get that sympathetic buzz from another snare and you keep fooling with the one your playing till you realize it's another...

Re: another snare buzz thread

Seem many just say play the buzz. I know sometimes using vented heads to get rid of ring or unwanted over tones or manipulating all the heads to get rid of buzz you lose tone and can sometimes just...

Re: Question about early beginner progression.

That's great advice LarryAce. I agree "fun" is a great place to start. Keep the "fun" attitude because it's a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, success and failure. One day you feel you got...

Re: Confusion on rolls - open or closed?

I like to use closed buzz rolls, but it sounds dirtier. The rolls roar rather than roll-you lose definition. You put the weight on the end of the stick with short strokes to roll ( the stick does all...

Re: suggestions for best rods and brushes

The Steve Gadd signature brushes are great with the angled tip. You can play them angle tip down and pop it for a clean sound or fine brush tip angle up and they glide across the head. I like to play...

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

I agree Hollywood Jim about Zildjian black coated sticks. I've been using them too and they do fall apart which I noted one of my snares sounded way off and realized lots of little flakes of rubber...

Re: Small and easy to transport drum kit

I've been playing with the 16 in kick in SONOR Safari and Pearl Rhythm traveler traveler POD for a few years now. Both kicks sound good (behind the kit) and are fun to play-I couldn't quit playing...

Re: Made a riser for 16 in tom to kick

I forgot this pic showing the front of the riser and how you can carry it with it attached. It is real stable-I thought about putting rubber on bottom for more grab. It wasn't too ugly from front.

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

"The best method to solve both is to use tape on the affected fingers. I like Nexcare Waterproof Tape, and unless you wrap every finger and use a lot, one roll will cost far less (over several pair)...

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

With all the emphasis of having a "loose" grip it's no wonder sticks are a flying. I injured my left index finger I haven't been able to bend it for a year or more (some posters have commented on the...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

I refuse to play with any band who wouldn't have a female singer singing Etta James "At last"-one of our favorites with a group I played in. It just wouldn't work. It is hard to believe some dude, my...

Re: Zoom q3hd help

Did you format the SD card? Does your computer recognize other cards? I have a Q2 but that comes to mind. Doesn't sound like a Q3 problem but SD problem.

Re: Missing posts-What happened?

i thought DW had passed the 100K mark for Forum members too? Now it's 92K so did 8K identities disappear into a black hole or Twilight Zone? It could be a case of Alien Abduction too-that or a Big...

Re: Made a riser for 16 in tom to kick

Well dang it I just noticed a loose washer from the underneath shot-in my haste to put it together I didn't tighten it up correctly. Usually it sits perfectly level, snug and tight-just remember to...

Re:Made a riser for 16 in tom to kick

A few years back I was curious about a 16 in kick so I made this lift from scrap wood. It worked great-it was a little canon. Thought I'd share for those curious about a 16 in kick-you can adapt your...

Andy, I was confused on the "clearance issue" on the video you provided about the Olympics-I thought they were talking about the strainer and clearance as a concern? I am curious why you offered the...
