Re: Band PA ownership options - thoughts, experiences

D seems fair. If they are truly a "friendly amicable bunch" then they would see it as fair too.

Re: sixteenths on hats?

Are you trying to do it one handed? Depends on how fast you go and what else is going on but I usually do them RLRL if it's at any regular rock song tempo or above.

Re: Decisions decisions??

Setup the Oak Customs in the configuration you are looking for (the same config as the DW performance series that you are interested in). Play em for a week or two. Maybe try to tune them to...

Re: Advice on drum additions

If you're stuck on buying new toms I agree with the KamaK

I also agree that money is better spent elsewhere.. new heads? New snare? Better cymbals?

Especially the new snare. You use it way...

I have a ticket to the Saturday Bozzio show at cosmomusic, but I have to bail too. My son has a hockey game.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Just picked up 2 QSC K12 speakers with K12 Tote cases and stands. Had recently grabbed a Soundcraft EFX8 Mixer. Buying used stuff is awesome, I saved a ton of cash by buying used (about $1500...

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

Absolutely agreed, and as I mentioned earlier... I just picked a bar and set it when I made the poll. I could have added a bunch more detail but people seem to get the point and answered...

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

Yeah it is interesting. I'm kind of surprised at the lack of double players here. But I think it's attributed to 2 main factors:

1. Most forum members don't play the style of music that requires...

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

Cool! Thanks for the replies guys. I know that simply getting 16ths at 200 doesn't make one a full fledged expert, but I just picked a bar to set and threw that out there. There's lots more to it...

Poll: do you double bass?

How do I add a poll?

I'm #5.

1. Never, it's nonsense
2. Never, I get that it's need in some genres but I don't do it.
3. I fiddle with it, but not really alot
4. I wish I could, but it...

Re: Looking for solid value kit on a $1500-$1700 budget.

Agree. There's lots of used gear at Long & McQuades. Tons of it. Most of it is guitar gear but there is drum gear. Long & McQuade Markham has a few used drum sets for sure.

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

Thanks Bo. I was considering the DW mainly because they are supposedly so good and... and I thought perhaps it was a deal. But it's not a great deal... and they are not really my #1 choice (the Tama...

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

Thanks Bo.

I'm not sure our price ranges are so different. Technically, should be about 8% difference between canada and US (it is tied to the US->CAD exchange rate for most items.)

I'm not...

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

One more data point. You mentioned a new kit for $1875. $1875 gets me a NEW DW "designer" series kit which is essentially a PDP. DW performance series is at least $2400 here. You don't see new...

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

Thanks for the reply.

I live in Toronto area . No new B/B up here for $1200-$1500. $2300 for a 4 piece is normal. There is a 4 piece maple starclassic on clearance for $2000 at one store.

Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

DW Collectors in Blue Onyx. 2005. (I'm debating between these and some NEW starclassic b/b .. which I know are VERY different... )

I could get the DW for $1875. (The star classics would be...

Re: Taking drumming more serious

Yes, the early grooves in groove essentials are very easy, and Tommy breaks all the grooves down really well. You start off very slow, gradually get more complex. You could also try Tommy's...

Re: Taking drumming more serious

Here's one way.

Buy Tommy Igoe "Groove Essentials 1.0" DVD (or the digital online version) and also the playalong book/CD.

It's fun, you're playing on your kit to real songs, and learning...
