Re: Acrylic Drums?

I love my acrylics. They are robust and I'm not afraid to gig with them. Plus, the Crush shell pack is under $1000.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

The Drumbourine. It adds a tambourine when I hit the side snare. $29.95 at Pro Drum in Hollywood.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

For sale: $24.95 (plus $5.60 shipping)

The Drumbourine adds a tambourine sound to any drum.

Place the Drumbourine on the head of the drum, away from the rim, about half way between the center...

Re: Playing to click - the mechanics

My live playing setup includes in-ear monitors, providing both my metronome and the mix. When no mix is available, I can still hear the rest of the band fine. The ambient noise sneaking past my...

The crashes are 17" and 19", with a 23" ride. They all fit fine.

Re: Drummerworld NAMM 2014 meet up

Bo; how does a drummer trick his wife into having her picture taken with White and Purdie, instead of us?!

Re: Bar bands, what's more important...

I agree with Chrome and shemp.
A bar owner once calmly listened to me explain how good my band was, then said: "You could be as good as the Rolling Stones in their prime; but if we don't sell a lot...

I'm the same way. Rehearsal surprises even take me out of my comfort zone.

Re: Playing live, with a click

I agree. During rehearsals; if anyone strays from my tempo, I do not follow them, even if it means a train wreck. After a couple of times the other players get it and follow my tempo much better. And...

Re: Cymbal mutes... that don't sound disgusting?

That depends on how much tape. I start with the "Sound Shapers" under the pies. Then I add small short strips of gaffers tape underneath. The top hi-hat gets four pieces midway between edge and bell,...

Re: Cymbal mutes... that don't sound disgusting?

+1 for Sabian Sound Shapers.
Also, a little gaffers tape on the undersides. This combination works great for me.

Re: Help! Acrylic Drums

I have the Crush acrylic kit and love it! It is capable of more volume than a wood shell kit, but they sound fantastic. I use clear Pinstripe batters (haven't changed the stock reso's). I would not...
