Re: Creative/minimalist kick drum muffling ideas?

Well if that's the case, use an old feather pillow.

Sorry, that's all I got.

Re: Maple/mahogany and Birch/mahogany sound characteristics

I also think that the quality of the type of tone woods is a major factor as well. Not all maple is created equal.

Re: Some band drama

I'm with Garry. Trust your gut, brother.

If it sounds and feels weird to you, it probably is, and it probably will be. You can always hang on for now just so you'll have some fun stories to tell...

Re: Creative/minimalist kick drum muffling ideas?

I've used all kinds of crap, from pillows to laundry.

Just buy an Emad and be done with it.

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

Isn't it funny how sometimes "more expensive" doesn't always mean "better?"

I guess my question is, does HE like the sound of it recorded? If so, my best advice is to just let it be...as...

Re: Counting off the song w/banter

So tired of it. To be fair, we play outside a lot, and the heat and humidity have been more present than usual this entire summer. I really don't think it's...

Re: Should I buy this HipGig Kit?

As Watso said, it's just stuff. The less stuff you have, the less stuff your family has to go through whenever you're gone.

Re: What year is this acrolite?

What year is this acrolite?

Found this online for a good price.

What year is it?

The owner states that it's a '79, but the numbers don't seem to go along with that.

Re: Songs With Variable Tempo

I filled in for a band one time, and one of their songs had the most abrupt tempo changes of any song I've ever heard, never mind played. It was an original song, so there's no evidence of it...

Re: So long story short, I'm a bass player now

The only timed I've ever traveled as a full-time musician, I showed up to audition for drums. I ended up playing bass and keys for the 11-week tour.

I think everyone moves through different...

Re: THe Conway Slingerlands have been Rescued

Those pedals are rad.

Re: Mapex Armory's

They are great drums for the money. A guy I know has them, and they are super-easy to tune and sound better than one would expect.

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

I sort of found this to be the case in some worship music that came out in the early-to-mid 1990s. Everyone was doing his/her own thing in terms of writing parts and whatnot. No one followed it as...

Re: Gear Sell Off, Best Way To Go About It

If you need room more than money, try to find a kid who is wanting to learn and give them away.

There's more money to be made breaking up the drum set, hardware, etc. You can also mention in your...

Re: Proportional tom sizes?

My Pork Pie USA custom kit was the first drum set that I played that actually felt like one instrument.

22x18 kick

In addition to the sized being proportional,...

Re: When you fight the music, your instrument just sounds bad
