Re: Snare Beds????

I checked my pdp concept last night and it was at most 1/8 inch deep and was exactly as wide as between 2 lugs. The very gradual taper was from 1 lug to the other...

I checked the Starclassic. Looks like it has between 2 and 4 millimeter bed and it's about 6 - 8 inches wide. At least that's what I saw. I did take pictures. I'm just to lazy to upload them right...

Re: Dry heads for ludwig blackrolite acrolite snare?

I'll +1 for the Genera Dry. (Not the HD Dry!!)

If you're looking for a dry sound, yet with a certain "deepness" to it, the Genera Dry is the way to go. Unfortunately (or fortunately as it may be)...

Re: 42 Strand snare wire experiment

In looking at all 3 of my snares, My Tama Starclassic and my PDP Concept both have no apparent difference in the "snare bed" area. My 68 Supra does. I'm not so much worried about the Supra, because...

Re: 42 Strand snare wire experiment

Wow.. I know this sounds crazy, but I just listened to all of these and then compared sympathetic snare buzz of the 20 strand Puresounds and the 42 strand Gretch's and I honestly can't tell a...

Re: 42 Strand snare wire experiment

I've been using the 42 strands in my pdp concept snare. I have no complaints about the sound, other than the huge amount of sympathetic snare buzz. I have no idea how to check the snare bed for...

Re: leaving the kick beater on the bass head?

This is a great thread. I've read every person's reply.

I've been playing drums off and on for close to 30 years. I've always buried the beater into the head of the drum. I'd like to change that,...

Re: Really, was this planned...?

Well, it does come with a Black Beauty Snare.. LMAO..

BTW, Neil Peart is one of my idols.. but I wouldn't spend $15K on his kit, even if it came with the whole tamale (ie.. drums, cymbals,...

Re: New guy, here. Need some advice.

Of all those kits, I'll give me my run-down, for what it's worth.

The first kit is a Japan made Pearl kit. Really, anything made in the USA or Japan should be top grade, plus, they appear to be...

Ludwig Vintage(?) Snare Drum

All, I just found this snare on the goodwill web site. The current bid is $372, which is about $300 more than I've ever seen a drum go for on this site. Obviously there's something to this drum. Can...
