Re: Another *&^%$# Bar Owner

You know you just described organized labor, right? You want to bring back enforceable standards, you need to bring back the union. Of course that means administration costs, paid in the form of...

Re: Discouraging & deterring theft on gigs

It never ceases to amaze me how rural parts of Bucks can be. Beautiful part of the state, though.

Re: Taking kick pedals on a plane

If you *do* take a set of Speed Cobras, would that be Snakes on a Plane?

[ducks and scampers off giggling]

Seriously, if you have a case for the pedals, just make that your carryon.

Re: So you're going to a band audition...

This. Of course, on my island, it's a small community. (There's only around 50,000 permanent residents, small for such a vibrant music scene.) I need to know at least two members of any given...

Re: Discouraging & deterring theft on gigs

Hell, Larry, I lived a few miles up 611 just over the border in Northampton County, and used that word All. The. Time.

In fact, I got bored with it and started using "douchecanoe" or...

Re: DrumMaker.com/Andy Foote - Experience in dealing with them??_

Here, too. I have bought from them several times. They've shipped in a timely fashion - to USVI, which most places won't even consider - their prices are quite reasonable, and they've been pleasant...

Re: Drum Etiquette at Open Jams

I host an open mic/jam session every Thursday at a local watering hole. (If you ever find yourselves on my island, stop by! :-) )

I agree that bringing extra drums is Not Done. So is moving things...

Re: The newer Premier APK and XPK line of drums...

The only difference is in the finish. The XPK has a lacquer. That's it. The shells and hardware are precisely the same.

Given that and the information about where the drums will be living - what...

Re: Who uses Moongel?

I use Moongel when the situation dictates and always remove it before packing up.

Great tip on "fixing" it when it stops being sticky. Thanks!

As for whether or not it's a good idea, dampening...

Re: How to handle this situation

Let me preface my comments with the confession that I don't make my living with my instrument. ;-)

I think you're on the ethical high ground, and should have a frank discussion with your...

I guess I did have a *bit* of fun Friday. Here's a pic a friend just sent me.

Re: Got the shakes

Reporting as ordered. ;-)

Friday was a complete sh*tshow. The guitarist who "leads" that band showed up with a four-set list - FOUR - half of which I'd never seen, and part of which was dependent...

Re: Got the shakes

I know, and that's what worries me. ;-)

I've been listening. As much as I can stand. Trouble is I haven't been a country music fan for ... ever. Then I did 3-4 years as on-air talent at a...

Har de hat HAR. Romania. :P

Seriously, there's a lot of "boom chick boom chick", and I'm seasoned enough at this I can watch for stops. Plus the bassist does know all the tunes, so I'll probably...

Got the shakes

I've got a big weekend coming up.

Tomorrow, a gig with a band that grew out of our regular Thursday open mic/jam evening. Saturday, a gig with a band formed around a well-known solo artist....

Re: PDP concept or Sonor select?

I have no experience with either other than reading about them and watching/listening to them on the Interwebs. They're both Far-East-sourced instruments which have a good rep for quality. So I'm...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

You sounded like you could have used a giggle. Happy to oblige.

Though I'm serious about throat-punching dickheads.

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Yeah, absolutely. Your reaction matters. And there are times when the appropriate reaction is white-hot, incandescent rage.

If I grok what Madge is describing, part of what happened is she was in...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

You should never have encountered that, Madge. It's appalling. We are supposed to be civilized.

If I might offer a suggestion, when encountering such staggering douchebaggery please consider...

Re: Really, was this planned...?

I'd never actually buy an action figure (haven't since I was about 12), but I have a friend who just paid a LOT of money for an original Star Wars figure still in the original blister pack....

Re: Shoes and Gloves

;-)

As my wife noted while looking over my shoulder, it's important to keep in mind that what we men might think is a problem is to a woman not a problem in the slightest.

Now, I grant you...

Re: Really, was this planned...?

I don't see any reason why this couldn't fetch that price.

Don't look at it as a drummer. To a drummer, there's nothing really special about this kit.

Look at it as a collector. New In Box...

Re: Video: Neil Peart's Guide to Neil Peart's Drums

vBulletin requires custom coding to permit that. I don't know if Mr Castiglioni has made that modification. If he has, I can't make the common mod commands work.

It's a risk, too. Enabling direct...
