This was made when "Chrome was Chrome" (some of the chrome I see today is very poorly plated)

Rogers did it right on those snares.

Re: Fast single stroke rolls with no fingers?

I think this issue boils down to your physical aspects. I like to go to fingers when increasing speeds. Can I do it with wrists - sure. When I look at my drum students, some can do it, most cannot....

Re: How do I develop my own style (and write a drum solo)?

Joshhlegg

If you have Skype - I would be glad to give you a free lesson on soloing. Before I did the Guinness Book World Record I use to solo for 6 to 8 hours a day. When you play that much you...

Re: How do I develop my own style (and write a drum solo)?

You have all the basics down, now the secret to soloing is to take what you have learned and turn it - inside out - upside down etc. Take the right hand part and put it on your left foot - change...

Re: We have a world record holder amongst us!

Also I would like to add (IMO) that the current rule of playing to music is kind of silly. If you can stay awake and keep playing, what difference would it make if you were reading drum charts,...

Re: We have a world record holder amongst us!

Sure - I can post it; give me time to take picture. I also have a copy of Boo' McAfee's record (who passed my record). In my opinion Guinness has created the problem by changing/modifying what rules...

Re: Replacing the throw-off on a Rogers Dynasonic?

Finding all the parts - might be hard. I would think trying to get a low priced one on ebay might be easier. I think they are a great snare.

Here is the one I broke the Guinness Book of World...

Just placed my 2nd music video off of the 2012 CD "Vocal Eyes Vocalize"

"Tricity" has a modern jazz fusion electro alternative rock kinda sound (if you can mix all that up) The comical song is...

Re: Anyone else have trouble first learning this rythm?

I do this with my students all the time. When they can't get a full part I make them put a hand behind their back (or remove a foot etc.) until they get the "cut down" part right, then slowly...

Re: Hi all, new member

Make sure when you practice with a metronome > Spend some time playing on the beat and some time playing in between the beat (like 5 minutes on beat, then 5 minutes in between the beat). This...

Re: Not sure how you do it-

Make sure your thigh is parallel to the ground, make sure your leg is NOT getting its blood supply cut off by a cheep drum seat. Look at the top line Roc-N-Socs you can sit for hours on them.

Re: Your favorite full-service e-Stores for drumming stuffs

I have been to many drum shops in my life - Dales is by far is the best - there must be 60 - 80 drum sets in their DISPLAY area plus hundreds of cymbals, etc. All of the staff there are drummers -...

Re: Why is it important to memorize?

I agree with the point above, take for example - The student can clap a rhythm in his hands (so it's in memory). BUT the student cannot play the full part on a 4-piece set. I have the student put...

Re: Looking for ideas/material on how to get my chops up on fills

Learn all of the basic drum rudiments well on the snare only. Then take them out to your set - switch them all over the place - like the right hand and left hand rudiment goes to left hand and right...
