Could you be referring to the original Tour Customs ? They had birch/mahogany shells. They predate the Recording Customs.

Personally I think it is a travesty that Chicago is not on the Hall. One of the biggest selling bands of all time.

I would also induct Cheap Trick over a few of the current inductees.

Enjoy Geezer ! I love my Black Swirl Club Customs, really special drums. By far the easiest drums to tune I have ever owned.

Rosewood is really beautiful. I ended up with the Espresso Burst Steve Maxwell exclusive finish and could not be happier. This is the best sounding Gretsch Kit I have ever owned.

i picked one of these up for $270.00 USD shipped to me in Toronto from Russo Music. Pretty nice, well made snare drums. Satin lacquer finish. Good Remo heads. There are YouTube videos of this snare...

Go to the expressions.com website and purchase the additional kits. Much better sounds than the stock kits IMHO

Very nice indeed, cherry is a beautiful wood for drums. I am really digging the Craviotto solid cherry 13 x 5.5" snare I received recently. I would love to wrangle my way into a cherry kit.

I also have a set of SKB bags that were purchased new for $100 shipped on EBay.

The Beato Pro1 are probably the best...

The natural maple kits has YESS mounts, the toms will be more resonant. The natural gloss maple finish were quite rare on the original Maple Customs. You see many more of the Vintage finish maple...

I have a Gretsch Zig Zag maple/walnut stave 6.5 x 14 snare being shipped to me next week from Russo Music. The deal was just too damn good to pass up.

I also have a 13" x 5.5" Craviotto cherry...
