Eddie Garcia

Does anybody know anything on Eddie?

I've just been listening to him on Bill Champlin's "Mayday: Bill Champlin Live". There's a track called "Drum Solo" with...you guessed it... an amazing drum...

Hi Andy@MIT

Thanks! That is exactly the response I was looking for! Been thinking a lot about it today and that makes perfect sense.

Help with vintage Premier drum...

I recently acquired a Premier snare drum, it's about 14X5" I would say, Steel and has what appears to be the original heads.

The logo is engraved in a kind of script font, along with the words......

Re: Is it realistically possible for me to shorten the depths of my toms ?

This is one of those things. You get this urge to do it, you really fancy having a go. It goes wrong - or it goes as planned but they sound shyte after wards. And you think... I wish I'd left them as...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Check out "Bottom Line" from Nightline (1982)

Superb straightgroove, with a classic Porcaro samba style ending!

Re: Ed Greene

Hi Tim

I've got quite a lot of his recordings. He pops up a lot along side all the other greats, and seems to have been a major part of the whole session scene. I guess you're right, he's not so...

Ed Greene

Anyone know much about Ed? (sometimes Ed Green, without the E on the end?)

I love his groove on Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) from The Jacksons.

This is another guy who seems to be quite...

Re: John JR Robinson

"The Dude"

Hmmm, what can I say?!

I think this album is quite possibly one of the best albums ever produced. After watching a two part documentary of Quincy Jones, I started to dig a bit deeper...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Just been listening to Lady Love Me (George Benson).

Here's a thing to do (if you haven't already). To do this, you need to take a decent recording. Mine is from the original CD, plus you need to...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

That's a nice post Alex,

I couldn't agree more. For me though, I don't remember Jeff passing. I was only a 12 year old boy at the time.

It would be another two years before I even knew who he...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Shame to see Jeff's been eliminated from the running.

Yeah you've got some phenomenal drummers out there today, but I still believe there's never been a touch quite like Jeffrey's.

Re: Jeff Porcaro

An album I've been diggin recently is "Wild Child" by Valerie Carter (1978). Now this is one super cool album. Really bluesy, and some great keyboard sounds from James Newton Howard.

Recommend it....

Re: John JR Robinson

Good call!

Is JR credited for this track? I can't seem to find anything to confirm, but it definitely has his sound.

Awesome intro!! Listen out for the hats!

I've been really digging John's groove lately!

Particularly his work on Off The Wall, Give Me The Night and Shadows (David Benoit).

It would be really good to hear your favourite albums /...

Re: Dave Weckl

I attended Dave's master class at Drumtech (London) last week. I can tell you, that guy can lay down a fat rock groove. He's not all Jazz.

The lesson was a real eye opener. He's technique is...

Good call Alex, and an interesting response from Mr. Harrison!

At first I thought the drum track to Heavy Fuel was just pure heavy rock. But I've scrutinized this song, and it's sounding more and...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

To me, JP is still very much alive.

I'm always hearing new stuff he's played on, like it's just been released (if you know what I mean).

My favorite track? "Wrong side of the tracks"...

I'd like some more opinions on the Dire Straits album please...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Yes, I was referring to that. I really admire your (and the others) work on that.
Without this kind of information, I wouldn't have such a great record collection!

Thank you!
