The volume of the stroke is determined by the speed it hits the drum head.

i suppose this means to give good speed to a stroke, i must bring the sticks up quite high, to allow for acceleration

what i meant to ask was when you do a fast single stroke roll, how high do you bring the sticks before each stroke

hey guys i was just wondering, when you do a fast roll, do you bring the sticks up as high off the snare as when your doing a single stroke? i seem to shorten the lift of my sticks when i do a roll....

when you say it sounds muddy, do you mean the guitars are blending together/bieng played very uncleanly? i constantly see bands wich let all strings of thier guitar ring out, during a crucial lead...
