I use various metronome apps. One of them, using 6/8 time sig., the subdivision is set to a dotted-1/4, which is what I want. The other app, has only 1/8th note subdivision. So setting the tempo...

+1 that all the way. Matt is old school and does a great job with SC, and Morellos Master Studies. I've learned alot from his vids on how to use SC, especially on the kit.

thankx guys. Worse case I have a buddy who restores and repairs. He can easily give me a clean bearing edge if needed.

I first got turned on to them when one of my buddies gave the Deep Purple album 8 track in 69'. Chasing Shadows just blew me away. Still does to date.

I couldn't wait just to play the double...

thankx guys for the great info.

I've played on ludwig, rogers and slingerlands. Definitely sound different even with same tuning range.

I'm hedging toward with Rogers and Slingerland....

If I had that opportunity then I would definitely be on the rescue. But to pay big $$$ for a vintage kit, just not sure.

LarryAce, I agree totally. I've seen rogers kits come and go at the shop....

Other than being a proud owner of a vintage kit, do they really sound better than current kits with better technology (ie., shells, hardware, etc)?

Stick with Bill. With his book (great book BTW), Stick control and a metronome app, your ready to rockNroll. Get to know the 4 stick heights as Bill will explain. Get some free lessons from him...

76' Vistalites $$$ back then?

Anybody know who was playing back then have an idea what the Vistalites were selling for in 1976? The kit is Pattern C Red/clear spiral: 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 22, and snare.
