Re: You get what you pay for

I definitely agree with the diminishing returns. Also, a $1000 snare ends up having a terrible price to usefulness ratio, as something for half/third of the cost can sound just as well. A $1000...

Re: Help me choose a shell pack? (I know, sorry.)

The Signet line looks interesting. I wouldn't have a problem assembling hardware on there either.

Even so... The finish choices look weak so far, and if that is the lug design I'm not a big fan. ...

Re: Help me choose a shell pack? (I know, sorry.)

Hopefully you have played the Epic line before making that statement.

For the record, the Ludwig Epics do sound good. They aren't Philippine Mahogany or Basswood (Birch/Maple) and were one of the...

Re: LUDWIG CONTACT DETAILS

The couple of times I needed something from Ludwig, I had to go through a distributor. I never could get anything back by directly contacting them.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

I have an older Zildjian A 16" Thin Crash up for sale:

Re: Garage sale find: Thoughts, opinions, and help wanted

Well, it seems that Rogers Dynasonic snares can go for more than $125 on their own. Sounds like a deal to me.

Opinions on drum shipping?

I'm sorry if this topic is in the wrong place or doesn't belong here, but I was wanting to get some opinions on shipping a drum.

If you have a drum and a fitting hardshell case for it, would you...

Re: Need help in deciding on my first drumset

I hope they work out for you. If it came with a B8 crash, I would lose that as soon as you can. I'll bet you could get a decent amount for it, and I imagine used (nice condition) Sabian AA crashes...

Re: Need help in deciding on my first drumset

Yeah, I didn't read to entire description, and I saw a K Crash on that set. Must not come with everything pictured, right :)? I would still get it over the others, but I'd get what I could out of...

Re: Need help in deciding on my first drumset

Nothing wrong with a Sabian Pro cymbal, think older version of a midrange cymbal like the XS20s.

I'm a Yamaha hater myself, and I would definitely take the PDP with Sabian AAs over a Yamaha with...

Re: Help: Mid-range drum search with 24" bass

Sounds like a great choice. Picking them up directly from Ludwig and taking a tour sounds like a great bonus as well. That finish looks great as well.

Re: Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

No, no mask. I was looking at a local ad website and noticed a Ludwig snare for sale. Ludwig stuff never comes up for sale around here, so it caught my attention. I knew immediately what it was,...

Re: Can you be a gigging drummer without a drum kit?

I will say no, but I'll also wax poetic on using "house" kits or other peoples stuff.

When I was in my last band, a couple of times we did gigs that involved several bands. So one guy says...

Re: Help: Mid-range drum search with 24" bass

Can't really go wrong with Gretsch Renowns or Ludwig Epic/Centennial/Keystones. Ludwig has added bonus of actually making hardware and not sticking you with Gibraltar stuff or some other brand (but...

Re: Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

Well, here (most of it) is. I have the worn out old heads off, broken P-85, etc. so it's basically the shell and rims right now. I have the parts on the way. The case is Ludwig brand, b/o logo on...

Re: Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

I'm going to put a new P-85 on it, some 20 strand snares and heads. As for the finish, I'll just play the drum for now but end up going the route of having the chrome taken off and the shell...

Re: Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

Ok. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have to buy 70's vintage parts or I would ruin the value of the drum or something.

I like the P-85 too. I don't know why, but I'm ok with using that as...

Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

I know the Ludwig Supraphonic gets talked to death on here (sorry to bring it up for the millionth time), but I just picked up my first Supra locally for a very reasonable price. It's in good/okay...

Re: Gretsch Catalina maple vs Club rock

I don't think any of those kits are bad at all. I gigged with a Ludwig Zep Set (the mahogany one) for a couple of years and it was just fine. Sounded more than good enough to gig with, while I...

Re: Ludwig epic euro kit and pro beat

I got an Epic Pro-Beat recently, and I'm more than happy with it. The build quality was excellent when mine showed up *your mileage may vary though*. Great sounding drums, nice "smoky chrome"...

Re: Ludwic Epic Snare Drum -- question

I have a set that came with a 7 x 14 Epic snare. I'm using an ambassador weight head on both the reso and batter side. Stock wires, etc. I tuned the drum to about a G, with the reso tuned fairly...

Re: Kits with larger kicks?

I have a Ludwig with a 24" Bass and a Ludwig set with a 26". I'm actually selling off the 26" bass set and using the other full time. The 26" is over in the classified thread if you want to see an...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Hi,

I'm selling a used but in nice condition Ludwig Accent "Zep" Set. It's in Black Diamond Pearl, with 26" Bass, 13" 16" 18" Toms and 14" Snare. Mahogany shells. The set includes the rim...

Re: Ludwig Epic Reviews

Hey, whatever works. I actually "grip" the stand around the rim of my rack and my snare. I don't have mine at quite the angle you do on the rack tom though.

Re: Ludwig Epic Reviews

mikeyhanson... do yourself a favor and put the rack tom stand around only the rim of the drum, i.e don't have the whole drum resting on the stand. See the linked picture, and look at the rack tom in...
