Re: Do you have any OCD-type traits about your drums/set-up?

You perfectly summed it up ! I won't roll myself on the floor if my drumheads aren't all from the same brand, or if the kit isn't perfectly facing the audience, but I just prefer so, it doesn't do...

I've got most of those OCD above, and below :
Of course the aligned bass drum logo, the heads logo aligned with the vent hole (not the badge), the T handle of the bass drum screws well aligned with...

Re: How often do you tune?

That's why we go down to what we discussed with Bo Eder : nothing better than big drums tuned relatively high. To play big rock with small / shallow drums, you keep on fighting to get the lowest...

Re: How often do you tune?

When I sit behind my drum I sometimes check the tension with my finger in front of each screw of the toms batter sides. Sometimes there will be one screw completely loose.
For the snare I give a...

Re: Drum stores in London and Paris

In Paris, quartier Pigalle, not very far from the Moulin Rouge, you can visit La Baguetterie.
Two storey drum shop among a lot of guitar shops.
It's a well known district, for music stores,...

Re: State your unpopular drumming opinions

I don’t like the term kick drum either... especially in French !
Now you’ve got French studio guys or damn guitarists talking about my Kick my Snare or Hats instead of The French equivalent: grosse...

Re: 8" tom: thumbs up or down?

I have played a 8only once, on a 6 piece Renown. Very fun to play when you're soloing or at the begin of long 80's style Tom Tom roll, but I found it hard to integrate into the music I play. Sounds a...

Re: omg

I guess it's mostly for style, those lugs look exactly like the Sonor logo / badge on the shallower snare drum.
I'd be curious to know the weight of the fat one ?!

Re: Tama finishes..

Of course piano black would be my go to on that list, but, if I check out Performer 2000's catalog, for instance :

Re: Consolidating Gear-Opinions Welcomed and Appreciated

I would totally be on this line : a shell bank of a high end kit (Starclassic Maple, Gretsch USA, Lud Maple, DW collector) plus eventually, a beater kit you're sentimental about.

4 to 6 snare...

Re: Premier Signia - help please

I own 2 white Signia, the price seems really ok, if it is in good shape.
20” kits are more valuable. Most Signia are 22”. So the 20” are sought for.

Re: State your unpopular drumming opinions

I don't remember APK / XPK ever had 18" depth bass drum ; the Signia did have that option. But you're right, they offered Xtra power tom like Tama in the beginning of 90's. I don't like much Xtra...

Re: State your unpopular drumming opinions

Oh thank you ! I don't feel alone anymore ; give us something else than the 10x7 12x8 16x14 drum kits thing ; bring back depththththth for god sake. Now I feel better too.

Re: What if we quantized Bonham?

Thank you for this YT video ! Always a pleasure to listen to the master. I do prefer Ian Paice to Bonham personally. So much feel and swing added in an otherwise basic steady hard rock beat. Was it...

Kurt Cobain, of course.
There were rumours quite strong around Jeff Buckley also. 3>

Metallica would be a great band to make a biography on, for their history is quite full.
