Re: Going to Istanbul!

I was in Turkey a couple of years ago - not in Istanbul tho - and the main thing to do is to TALK THE PRICE DOWN! That's how they operate down there. Seriously, they get offended if you don't try to...

Re: The legendary sweet spot

I've posted it before, but I made an A-B-C test with the Acrolite shell which showcases this. I hung it from the butt plate and played the shell with a mallet, both from the inside and the outside....

Re: Crazy hard work has it's compensations - my playground :)

I wonder how it would sound if you threw a bunch of superballs bouncing around in there ;)

Looking pristine and fresh as ever. I really enjoy these pics, keep em coming!

Re: Rock albums with modern production and a great vintage drum sound

I really like the drum sound on this particular track by Them Crooked Vultures, "No One Loves Me and Neither Do I"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YvXJFh5IuE

I think it's actually pretty raw and...

Re: So how's this for bitter?

This forum is one of the rare places where you can actually have a proper discussion even when you disagree with somebody. Cheers to that!

btw, I did a studio session last month, with the reso...

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

Maybe it's all in my head lol
All I know is that everytime I walk into a studio or a music shop I can feel the smell.

Love reading these stories, it's definitely a trip down memory lane! This is...

Re: Sorry - this just had to be posted!

That is beautiful!

I rarely do any woodworking nowadays, but I know the feeling you get once you get to the stage where you've brought the grain/surface of the wood to life like that... Love it!

Re: What's your story about how you started drumming?

My father was (is) a musician so when I was a kid I got to hang a bit in all these rehearsal spaces, studios, clubs etc. I remember I was always fascinated with the drum set, because it was not just...

Re: Warm up routines

I don't think anybody said that you have to have one. Nor did anyone claim it to be essential in any way. This is merely a thread for people who have found them to be helpful in one way or another to...

Re: Warm up routines

This is exactly how I feel also. Get your body loose and your mind tight, that's the trick.

Like I said, good for you. Now if I really wanted to act like an ass I'd throw in an...

Re: Warm up routines

Perhaps when they started getting a bit older and more acquainted with the laws of gravity, or had physical issues that need dealing with?

I strained my back pretty badly with no apparent reason...

Re: Warm up routines

Before I play anything, I stretch. Even if only for a half minute or so, but I really need to stretch. I'm big and clunky. If I skip that my muscles gang up on me right away.

As far as technique,...

Re: Keeping up with the Gaddashians

That's funny!

I was just in the studio a few weeks ago, and this is pretty much exactly how our headphone mix adjusting went.

Thanks for the link!

Re: Bands and tempo arguments

Tried the liveBPM yesterday at practice. We play high volume rock in a small room, with time signature and tempo changes, so I was worried how it would pick up the bpms but this thing worked like a...

Re: Bands and tempo arguments

Regarding tempos, sometimes a song needs to flex in and out a little. Or a lot, depending on the song.

Song order means a lot too, if you play the same songs in the same order they tend to stay...

Re: First pictures - new Tour series zebrano

That snare by itself looks like it's prepared to go to war. A very distinctive visual presence.

From looking at the kit I get a feeling of how they are going to sound, like it just looks there's a...

Re: Is it OK to talk about the movie "Whiplash" yet?

Just saw the film yesterday.

Yes, it was over the top, unrealistic and sometimes even plain stupid. And as stated earlier it lacked showcasing one of the most important factors in making music...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

I liked the AT better. Nice and clean recording, this sounds just like I'd imagine a drum set to sound.

Getting a balanced sound of the kit and the cymbals using only a single mic and being able...

Re: Ludwig Acrolite Fan Post

Lots of love for this drum!

Even though I've generally liked the sound of the Supras I've played a little nicer than the Acros.
But, I am really happy with my Acro, and with money being an an...

Re: extreme tom angles and snare tilt

Looks like he's playing on a downhill slope, but he sounds good and is definitely enjoying himself.
That's a cool set he's got, I was expecting to see ebay adds so this was nice. Ain't nothing...

Re: Show us your "Acrylics"

Thanks!
It was a lot of work getting these back to shape, but it was most definitely worth it.
The two pics on the bottom is how the bearing edges look now.

Btw, that's a nice lighting thing you...
