Re: DW owners-do you tune to the "stamped" note?

This! As hardware is added and the wood ages or becomes affected by humidity, that fundamental note may change. The stamped note has some marketing value I suppose. I do, however, believe there is...

Re: Pics gone...

Floor toms mounted on stands vs legs. They've become out of fashion for good reason. Too much weight for stands and harder to position.

Re: Sorry Neil......Ringo and Paul has much more "feel" than you

Yes is my all time favorite but Rush isnít far behind. Stop comparing apples to oranges. It isnít a competition.

Re: Recommendation for Small Snare Mic

Another vote for the e604. My go to mic for toms because of their compact size and durability if I inadvertently whack one. Iíll often use them for my snare as well for live gigs. Not as good as my...

Re: The thing you bought but you never use

Chalk me up as someone who has thrown the cowbell out with the bath water. If you want to play American Band, youíll have to live with the bell of the ride in lieu of the cowbell. Iím not about to...

Re: Some artsy black oyster pearl shots

One of those finishes that looks as good today as it did 50 years ago. Timeless.

Re: A couple of things I'm not digging from Ludwig

Leave it to Bo to become the first drummer ever to switch a strainer TO a P-85. You trendsetter. Congrats on the new kit by the way.

Re: Where Do You Position Your Beater

I extend the beaters on my pedal to a wee bit under their max length. That gives me the best feel. I bounce between 22Ē and 24Ē kicks and on the 22Ē itís an inch or two above center but I could care...

Re: Is Buddy Rich REALLY the greatest drummer of all time?

Have you listened to how Simon Phillips and Gavin Harrison manage to create the perfect drum part to complement whatever genre theyíre playing? How adept was Buddy outside of the big band genre?...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

What suspension mounts? Even with the beauty of those Unix drums, I couldnít peel my eyes away from the JN snares. A TKO, Luminary and Conquered?

Re: Snare drum with wrinkles? Anyone do this?

If you donít want clang, avoid steel drums. I refuse to put uneven stress on my drum shells, even for temporary periods. Pay too much for them. Better ways to get a cardboard sound if that is the...

Re: Is Buddy Rich REALLY the greatest drummer of all time?

If we include fame and influence in the definition of ďgreat,Ē then yeah Iíll call him the greatest. His name is synonymous with drums and is instantly recognizable by people who canít even spell...

Re: What's the best snare you have tried?

I have to at least identify one wood and one metal:

Joyful Noise TKO brass 6.5x14 (the aluminum Luminary, while very different sonically, is an oh so close second)

One of the Gurus.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Singleflam, that kit óbreathtaking! I picked up this Joyful Noise seamless bronze drum, hand-engraved by John Aldridge. One of two. Literally a work of art and now that Iíve swapped heads, it sounds...

Re: Import Duty from UK to USA?

I bought my BC2 direct from Porter & Davies a year or two ago. It was convenient and when I researched the benefits at the time, it was more cost effective to buy direct. They made things easy for US...
