Re: My experience with the tune-bot at my gig last night (it was excellent)

You probably know this way better than I do, but I'll say it anyhow:

With or without tune-bot: don't go for that desired lug pitch too directly. Very small turns on those tension rods, taking...

Re: Are you a Groove Player or a Technical Player?

My groove may not be your groove, just as your technique certainly isn't mine.

In other words: I'm a drummer. Just not a very accomplished one.

Re: Legal question

They're free of charge (and self-interest), though.

I for one would save the lawyers for serious sh#t.

Re: I'm a human drum machine

Brilliant. If only one could 'copyright' those licks.

Re: Legal question

I'd say that yours is a different story, larryace. You would be sampling from/dealing with those who 'own' the rights to the 50 Ways recording.

But if you copy that drum groove by playing and...

Re: Hmm....

Not the first time you're seeing this, probably, but the similarity remains striking:

Re: Dirty Little Secrets

Yes (albeit a bit overdone at places). Also love the Police-vibe in this track.

Other recent hits that actually deserve to be hits:

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
Daft Punk - Get Lucky

A bit...

Re: Dirty Little Secrets

Some of my 'guilty pleasures':

Bee Gees (which doesn't, however, feel guilty at all--I was into them already as an innocent kid)
Opeth
Eros Ramazzotti
Herbert Grönemeyer
Mustasch
Imagination...

Re: Pearl Masters MRX versus DW Collector's series

Why replace something that makes your eyes and ears happy?

Off course, those DW's may sound great as well. But that goes for a long list of other drums, too. Wouldn't you then permanently be...

Re: The weakest link

Since everybody already told you that you'll be fine, let me tell you that you'll get even better. A band that fits you musically and socially can be such a stimulus that you will find yourself...

Re: A touching drum story for all you drum nerds like me

Drums, IMHO, aren't made for axing them down. Kudos to you for preserving and restoring them and... more importantly... passing them onto another drummer.

Re: How to get the right sound in an Acrolite

Before joining the CTR (crank the reso) party, my snares sounded like sh#t and my life was m#serable.

To those who are considering to try and CTR: 'to crank' means 'to turn it up'... really high...

Re: New Mapex BP Blaster Kit

I was referring to the angle of your hihat pedal (the footboard, that is) vis-ŕ-vis your bass drum pedal. Doesn't look comfortable to me.

Re: New Mapex BP Blaster Kit

Noice! Congratulations with those beauties. Time to get comfortable behind them (and to get that hi-hat stand 'out of Africa' ^).

Re: You can TUNA drum but you can't TUNA fish

Having some difficulties taming my drums myself, I decided that it was worth giving the Tune-bot a try. After some on-line research and hesitation (€ 100,- isn't cheap; tuning devices (Drum Dial*...

Re: Pearl aluminium, or Ludwig?

Here in the NL it's still available as well.

I for one would have gone staight for the 14 x 6.5" alu Sensi (but along came a 'similar' 14 x 5.5" Tama, at a better price than the new and...

Re: First experience playing live with a looper

Interesting stuff! While my band isn't looping (yet), the guitar guys use their delay pedals a lot. That makes for good psychedelica (we think), but it also makes my timekeeping job a lot harder.
