Re: are the constant release and heel toe techniques the same?

I've always understood they are two terms, used interchangeably, to describe the same technique.

Re: 5 Double Stroke Roll/Hand Foot Triplet Combinations

These and your paradiddle groove ideas look interesting. Have you made any videos demostrating these by chance? I find that sometimes it helps me feel the correct groove and dynamics in conjunction...

Re: groups of 4 fast 16th notes on single bass drum

Ya, I gotta see this. If for no other reason than that I'm a single bass player and constantly trying to improve the speed of my consecutive 16ths. Can you post a video for us beyondbetrayal?

Re: Blushda fill - drum lesson

I could hear you fine. It was a little low but not bad. Great lesson. I forgot about this rudiment, now I need to get back to the kit to practice.

Re: Steve Maxwell's Rules!

I live in the west Chicago suburbs, very close to the Maxwell shop here. I've had intentions to go to it several times but life kept getting in the way. Anyway, I did talk to a sales rep...

Re: Can I keep my toms low on a 22" kick?

I have a PDP M5. 22" kick with a 10, 12 and 14. I'm about 6 foot. I've tried and tried and can't find a comfortable position for my 12" above the kick (not to mention, for some reason it doesn't...

Re: 68 Supraphonic???

Pretty much what Defender said. I picked one up used a few months ago. I stripped it apart, soaked the rods in coke overnight to get rid of some pretty heavy grime and even a little rust. The...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I have enough problems with my single strokes being smooth using matched grip. Traditional grip only adds another factor to hurt my evenness. I admire those who use traditional grip well though.

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

#2. I just can't come to terms with taking my foot off the hi-hat pedal.

Re: Intermediate drum set advice

I had great cymbals waaay before I had a good kit.

20" K Ride
Zildjian 17" A Brilliant crash
Zildjian 17" K Medium thin dark crash
14" New Beats

All of them used. For years, they hovered...

Re: There's no way David would be this shameless, but I will ;)

Thanks for sharing this. I spent some time after the chitlins went to bed last night watching these videos. Sometimes I need reminding the best sounding fills/licks/grooves are often "simple...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I like cymbal logos and lettering!!!.......phewww, there I said it. I've even redrawn the Zildjian logo on my old new beats. it doesn't look half bad either. And yes, I know logos don't make them...

Re: What people will pay

I've been casually seeking a 16" for my PDP M5 kit. They are horribly and disproportionately overpriced.

Re: Drummer Metronome

I second the app solution. There's really no need to buy a metronome these days. So many free apps and programs you get get to do that for you.

Re: Carter Beauford

It's probably because 80% of his drumming career has been with one band. Just not as much exposure as some guys like Porcaro, Weckl, Garibaldi and Gadd. In my opinion, Carter is just as good, if...

Re: PDP Concept Maple vs. DW Design Series

I will admit, I've never laid a stick on a dw kit outside of a drum store but I own a PDP M5 ( similar to the x7) and I think it sounds great.

Re: Ludwig Snare (not supraphonic, not an Acrolite)?

Thanks Steve. Ya, the "snare chord" on there is my janky attempt at replacing an even jankier snare chord (yellow string on one side and wire on the other) that was on it when I got it. The white...

Re: The matching snare

A snare is like a lens on a professional camera. It's something you want to be able to switch out depending on the situation. It doesn't have to match the toms and bass.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Very nice. I was on the look out for one of those myself when I stumbled across this on craigslist for VERY cheap.

My new Ludwig 400 Supraphonic. (early 70's)...
