Re: Ludwig bass mounts

When I had my Ludwig kit with the 26 bass drum, I found I couldn't utilize any bass drum mount and get that tom where it was most comfortable for me (it was a 9x13). After looking at where I liked...

Re: Beginners Guide on what to buy

True.

However, it might be safe to say that anybody getting into drums just won't believe you.

I think every one of us on this forum have aired our feelings which can be summed up as "why won't...

Re: Who does this, really?

Well, that would be me too. I have hard cases for all my drums.

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

I think the Players kit would be a better choice. 20" bass drums sound more like bass drums, and the shorter depth of 12" makes it really easy to move around (Ludwig used to rank out 12x20 bass...

Re: I think I'm losing it

Thanks. I intend to. But it'll have to wait. I seem to have caught the flu bug and am forcing myself to rehabilitate. So currently I'm on cold medication and enjoying feeling woozy sitting at the...

Re: Ok, do your worst ;)

Dude - stop being so bloody humble about how you play. The kit sounds great, you sound great, you do the gig. Stop it.

Re: My Sonor Safari kit - mini-review and demo video!

Yep - video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjsx-mq5-j8&list=UUkDJzHGBQeXec9F0U_UNB5Q

But mind you, I was using my 5x14 Supraphonic with it. The stock snare that comes with the Vision is...

Re: Who does this, really?

I guess this has sparked the 'case or no case' controversy. Sorry. I promise - when the weather looks on the downside, I will use my cases. But if the weather is beautiful (as it often is here in...

Who does this, really?

Today was the first day back with my show choir as we gear up a new show that will run from January to May. And as expected, I'm traveling about with the new Pearl Reference Pure kit (but I have to...

Re: My Sonor Safari kit - mini-review and demo video!

Wow - resurrecting an old thread!

At the time, I don't think the Bop kit was available yet, and I was intrigued by the use of 16" bass drums after seeing Steve Smith play a Jungle kit, and of...

Re: I think I'm losing it

Well, days later thanks for the words of advice. I am taking a serious look at my diet to see where I can cut-out those glutens, and of course, living in Southern California, as healthy as it's...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Another interesting discussion on this would be that, certainly some women know there is sexism, yet they don't complain about it and get along within systems that have it. How do those women deal...

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

Are you talking about encountering sexism here on the forum from members? Or sexism in general when you tell people you play the drums?

Re: gig money for minor

Good words already said here. But I'd reiterate that he should get equal pay. Age has nothing to do with it (or what he'd be doing with his money).

The "trial period" seems questionable because...

I think I'm losing it

So I'm not sure if anybody else has gone through this, but as some of you know, I'm in a little trio, singing all of the high harmony and even some of the songs I sing lead on are on the high end. ...

Re: Video: Neil Peart's Guide to Neil Peart's Drums

Which I think was obvious since he pretty much has played on everything over the years. Well, I know he hasn't played everybody's drums, but it's enough to know that he sounds like him on anything....

Re: Why do listeners move on as they get older?

More likely it's that tastes change. Alot of older folks also recognize nostalgia for what it is as well. There is alot of music I no longer listen to, and it may be because of who I was then and...

Re: Ready to buy new kit. Need advice.

That would be cool - they're even giving you an extra snare. I'd go for that. You don't see alot of that sky blue pearl, but you do see alot of black oyster pearl, so you choose how unique you want...

Re: Realistic Expectations

I think there's something wrong with you.

Who gives up piano just because he'll never play like Oscar Peterson? And you had an expectation to play like Jojo but now won't even set the new kit...

Re: Ready to buy new kit. Need advice.

20x16 is probably what you'll easily find new. 20x14 are just not as common as they used to be - you can get them, but they won't be any cheaper, or you're buying a kit piece by piece rather than a...

Re: Steve Jordan .... yeah ... watch it !

Yeah, its a great album. The only unfortunate thing was his use of Simmons drums in the first track. That really dates the album for some reason. But if you can get past that, it's a great band to...
