Re: HELP BAD TECHNIQUE.

The same way that typing on a keyboard for 10 years can lead to serious RSI pain. It's completely possible.

Re: Killer Solo

Find a video of Neil Peart or Joey or anyone big ... the comment section is pure poison.

Re: What would YOU buy w/ $1800 in your pocket?

The set at the bottom that uses the floor tom as a bass drum as well is interesting. Haven't seen that before.

Re: the writing on the wall

"What did you get done today?"

Motivates me to stop screwing around.

Re: Freddie Gruber - GURU

I thought seeing people run down Neil Peart in other threads was the height of ignorance but now Gruber too?! Wow.

Re: Tendonitis

Look into other opinions. Seriously. My doctor gave me a 2 minute exam and declared I had carpal tunnel syndrome. She told me I'd have to wear a brace on my arm 24/7 and take pills for the rest of...

Re: Neil Peart

Well, as you may or may not be aware, people often have differing opinions. You're entitled to yours but it doesn't make theirs wrong by extension.

Re: Neil Peart

Der Trommler is amazing. I can't see how anyone could watch that and say anything bad about the man's playing. :)

Re: Tendonitis

Everything I've read about RSI related injuries is that surgery is a temporary fix. You'll feel great for awhile and then the pain will return. Look into stretching, relaxation and massage to...

Re: Muscles

I guess it depends on your definition of "better". Neil Peart doesn't look like a body builder to me.

Re: Tendonitis

Yes, I have a mild case of RSI from years of computer work and I can say that the primary thing that has helped me is relaxation. Tension is the enemy of RSI related problems. A relaxed posture...

Re: Is 15 too old to start playing?

Too late for what? It depends on what your goals are. If you want to jam along to the radio or in the garage with friends, then does it matter?

I brush my teeth more than once a week so I'm not too concerned.

Re: Neil Peart

I think that hits the nail on the head. It's not the difficulty of playing the parts, it's the creation and writing of them. The innovative nature of it. That's what it takes to be inspiring, in...

Re: Long Hours Practicing

Yeah, the 12 hours a day thing seems a little ... I dunno, obsessive? I mean, come on, have some balance in your life. 12 hours of anything every single day is too much. I'd get bored.

Re: Neil Peart

What I really respect most about Peart is his attention to the craft. Watching 'A Work In Progress' and 'Anatomy of a Drum Solo", you really get a sense of how much he cares about drumming - it's...

Re: L Foot Independence?

I'm only just getting started myself but I have to think that the answer is ... practice. Keep doing drills until you don't have to pay attention to the leg anymore. It just knows what to do...
