Re: LM402 Lust

Don't do it Mart. It will only lead you further down the rabbit hole and you'll spend too much time on gear and not enough time on playing.

(Somebody has to at least attempt to try and save him...

Re: tell me the truth

I was being a little cheeky. I do subscribe to it personally though. I ain't shit in the big picture. Nada. Humble works for me better than the alternative. It's OK if you don't subscribe, I still...

Re: tell me the truth

Dude, you totally suck of course.

Just think like that and you will always try to improve.

Never, never think you're any good, it's like kryptonite.

You can usually tell a heartfelt...

Re: How does Gavin do this?

You Californians have no idea how bunged up we here on the NorthEast part of the country are lol.

I never know when I will get a solo, I never know what song it will be on, there's no way to...

Re: How does Gavin do this?

Oh God no. No I got your intention. You give great advice. So does Tony. Only I can't use it until I crack another nut. I am unable to think logically while soloing more than 8 bars. I am totally in...

Re: How does Gavin do this?

Lecture me about social anxiety instead man. They are good nuts and bolts, but I need something larger.

Re: How does Gavin do this?

Cross rhythms throw me quickly Brent, like a bull bucking a rider off lol. I am completely baffled, over my head, out of my league. It amazes me that they can KEEP THEIR PLACE. I can't believe you...

How does Gavin do this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99ATD9vTHSE

It's Gavin on Letterman during drum solo week doing "The Chicken"

I know that "The Chicken" is a 16 bar form.

Sometime I get a solo on this same...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

I think it is a rare few individuals who have really great unwavering meter over a few minutes time. The rest of us have to be shown, and we have to work at it. It's simply honing a mental/physical...

Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

Short drive then I'm guessing :P

Sustain is what I seek. I really don't think it would drive me crazy.

What Andy showed...OK that's too much sustain. But give me half that.

I had a set of...

Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

I agree with this....initially. I think if you put drums out there that sing 2 to 3x longer than the status quo...it's just a matter of time. Sustain is the holy grail of drums. I can't think of...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

I agree with sentence #1.

If you practice in perfect meter, you will tend to play with more even meter.

Sentence #2....simply doesn't apply to the majority of people who use the metronome....

Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

I can't see this being ignored, it's too desirable. Truly, I've been on a quest for the longest note I could find...since my first set in 1969. I will say that it may take some years before you start...

Re: Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro Kit Definitions

Would it be too simple of an answer to say price point? Along with the higher price comes better materials as a given, generally speaking.

Pro kits starting at say 2000 and up

Intermediate kits...

So what, you are 12 years old then, right? :P

Good God man...how you manage to pull that off...with all the temptation here....is so far beyond my own personal comprehension, that I just have to...

Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

Super orgasmic? No, this is just excited lol.

He only tapped that drum 1 time, with his finger!

That's all you need to hear, it's that convincing.

I think it's safe to say that the RIMS...

Re: Why bother with books?

I can't relate to trying to play a musical exercise in a book at a gig. It's certainly valid, but geez, that means I would have to think onstage. I can't think of anything more different...while...

Re: A Few Simple Tips (tuning and transport)

The lazy susan is a great idea. I just use a throne, like Les. I guess I'm too lazy to buy one. Sometimes I have to put a 16" drum head on it, if I am totally stripping the drum

I really like the...

Re: DW, the Scientology of drum companies?

I've often wondered if preservatives had any effect, positive or negative, on human aging.

The chances of preservatives being good for you seems slim.

Re: Show your drumming "battle scars"?

Glad to see there's not a lot of scars. I would hope most people here understand that blisters and callouses are a mark of holding on to the sticks too tightly, which also means that shockwaves are...

Re: Why bother with books?

It takes a lot of balls to ask this question. Valid question. While I like the books, I feel you learn the most playing with others.

Books are a great brain exercise tool.

Martin I wonder if...
