So it's between two 6.5" deep 14" snares. One with a steel shell and the other with a Birch shell. Would I be right in saying that the Mapexs' birch shell will provide more attack and be more similar...

Ok so I've checked them all out and I agree that it's between the Mapex and the Ludwig and I'm pretty sure I'm goanna go for the Mapex but if anyone can offer any further help about the Supralite vs...

I've only ever played about 5 snares in my life and there are all steel snares! So I don't really know what I like as I have only been playing a couple years. I have listened to the Ludwig on YouTube...

I need to get a new snare drum soon because my old one is busted and am looking at a 150 ish Budget. Unfortunately I can't get any second hand stuff because there is nothing decent locally...

I agree with this. Sycnronicity is one the things that all drummers try to master anyway and I personally think that 2 drummers in sync with each other shows real dedication to music and musicmanship.

I think if its the birch Mapex then I'd go for that. Really good tone and feel to te kit. Quite versatile too. Quite good value and comfortable sizes.
I think that building your own is a good idea....

Yep they're mahogany alright. A good way of finding out any shells of any tama kits you can go On their website and there they have a backdated catalog of all their catalogs. They can give you a lot...

How about having the 16" on a snare stand or attached to a cymbal stand for examPle.
Its just bonham had the 16" separating the 14" from the 18"

He had a 15" rack Tom but that's because tama didn't make 16" toms so after Nirvana when he got his endorsement they custom made him Starclassics with a 16" rack Tom
