Re: On the Road

I was on tour last summer, and "Blurred Lines" just kept coming on the radio. Every 20-40 minutes we would be in a new broadcast area or something, and we would hear that tell-tale snare and cowbell....

Re: I don't know whether to take this tour or not

I think it's one of the biggest lessons you have to learn as a gigging musician, involved in multiple projects, is how to find balance between music and the rest of your life. The lines get pretty...

Re: Who Are The Most Melodic Drummers?

I agree with everyone so far, especially that Max Roach solo Numberless.

Here's something I stumbled across recently that comes to mind:

Re: SJC Drums

Drum Center of Portsmouth sells SJC drums, and they post videos of just about everything in their store. Maybe you can look through their inventory online and check out some vids. Also, Shane the...

Re: LOCAL BANDS THREAD

Here is one of my favorite local bands in Portland, ME. The drums are live, not programmed, FYI.

Here's another that's sadly since broken up....

Re: Bozzio's wedding kit

Wow, that was just so cool! I'm going to have to watch it a couple more times just to take in all the little tidbits he throws out there, from the music stand to the beaters, and I want to take a...

Re: Thinking about downsizing

I'm late to the party, but I've recently started downsizing for the same reasons. I have a 12-14-14x20 kit, with new soft cases, and a hardware bag instead of a trap case. Additionally, I've been...

Re: Stolen Drums, a long, frustrating story

So sorry to hear that, man. I know how you feel, and I very easily could have been in the same boat. I just got lucky.

The police are continuing to investigate. They have tracked down the person...

Re: Stolen Drums, a long, frustrating story

So I did it, I bought them back. Right now I'm not too happy about the money, it being the holidays, but I think pretty soon that will give way to just being ecstatic to have my drums back (probably...

Re: Stolen Drums, a long, frustrating story

M thought exactly, but they don't serialize these drums because they make too many of them. The best the C&C sales person (named Jesse, who was super helpful) can show is that I bought the same kit,...

Thanks for all the replies, I have been reading and acting on many of your suggestions, so thanks for the support!
UPDATE
My drums turned up a couple weeks ago, the local drum shop owner was...

Re: Your favourite drum fills of all time, EVER!

Holy crap that is cool. Thank you!

One of mine is here, at about 4:15-5:05 it comes up a bunch.

Re: "I Shall be Released" - The Band

I think you're right about the snare, that's cool!

It sounds to me like it might be something other than a stick on the hihat, though. If you assume he's playing with his finger on the snare, a...

Re: Stolen Drums, a long, frustrating story

Hey guys, thanks for the positive responses, it really means a lot to me.

@RockNGrohl I think you're right, it was just for drug money. He probably found a way to make some money right away...

Stolen Drums, a long, frustrating story

This is still hard to recount, but here goes…

Last week my brand new C&C drums were stolen. I left them in my van at work while I carpooled to rehearsal, and when I got back three hours later a...

Re: C and C Custom Drums

I pay C&C now, I love my kit. I play a lot of low-volume gigs, and the drums seem to open up more readily at lower volumes. Also, I find them very easy and quick to tune. They look just gorgeous, too.

Re: Just got my new C&C kit!

I would say yes. I don't have the snare, but the toms sound right on. The kick is really surprising, I don't think that it quite comes across in the video, but mine just fills the room. I think the...

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic, I need it

I'm in a similar boat. I've got an 80's acrolite, and a 70's 6.5x14 supersensitive, but there was a '76-'77 5x14 supra at my local shop for $219 last week and I had to buy it. It's probably 6/10, a...

Re: Just got my new C&C kit!

The 12" has six lugs, and it tunes up so easily haha.

I was surprised at how light these drums are, also! I guess mahogany is a bit lighter than some of the other hardwoods...

Re: Just got my new C&C kit!

@ Ian Ballard
Yeah, the custom thing has obviously been going well for C&C, but if this is their first foray into the mainstream retail market then I think we can all expect more great things to...

Thanks a lot, I have very quickly come to know and respect your opinion Andy, and it definitely guided my purchase in a small way. Your well thought out reasons for liking this kit match squarely...

Re: Just picked up my first Supra, have some questions...

Wow, I thought I got a good deal last year when I paid $330 for that drum! Great score, I love it. Even with my mediocre skills, you would have sworn Bonham was playing in the booth when I brought it...

Re: Just got my new C&C kit!

@ eamesuser
When I got them the Drum Center had them tuned very high and jazzy, and they sounded really great. They still had nice body, and great tone whether I was hitting them very softly or...
