Even if you can't find the right pans, there are so many ways to build dual-zone capable cross-members. I have an Alesis DM5 module so it only picks up one trigger at a time. No dual-zones for me.

If I were you, I would go for the Roland. Alesis is okay, but my experience with Alesis modules has not been very positive.

I'm building mine to expand my acoustic kit, and also becasue it seemed...

It's MUCH cheaper just to buy a sanding brick/sponge, peel the sanding surface off, and cut your cones/cubes out with a hacksaw or basically anything serated.

Why don't listen to different radio stations and listen to the drums? You might get lucky and find something you really like, or gain the inspiration to make up your own thing.
