Re: Need Help Identifying Rogers Vintage Set

I see J.P. has been here. Turn off the lights and close the thread.

If you can, post some pictures of the floor tom interior and bearing edges. I'm curious because the lugs look Slingerland-ish...

Re: Is Dennis Chambers ill?

It might be me but I wasn't reading many diagnosis, specific details, armchair doctors, or speculations....just a lot of well wishes. I'm also reading a lot stories of people that have met him and...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

But no throne, what a shame :P Was it an entire package deal or was it just rack/drums?

Re: Simon Philips playing jazz

I agree, but I think he has enough finesse and dynamics to pull it off. It's like Neil Peart jazz, only waaaay better.

Re: Purchasing drums online: Ebay vs. Craiglist

Funny, I just sold a car on CL and I'm now receiving threats of bodily harm and harassing phone calls from the piece of garbage that bought it because something broke 4 days after I ceased owning the...

Re: Another Band Drama Thread

I also recommend recording but I wonder if they'll tone down the volume if they're aware of the purpose of recording. If you say "ok, we'll see who the problem is!" I'd suspect they'd quiet down.

Re: Do you think it's time for your favorite drummer to retire?

I could tell some issues had come up like Alan's monitors. For at least two of the songs he wears a pair of headphones which I assume has a click track. Once he fell off, it was hard to recover.

Do you think it's time for your favorite drummer to retire?

Last night I had a disappointing but wonderful experience at a Yes concert, one of my favorite bands. Lemme 'splain.

The good - Yes has a new vocalist Jon Davison that brings so much energy,...

Re: Led Zep Vs Spirit issue

An interesting take, and from an Aussie too. I personally feel that the flute section has identical melody to that song. At least that case had more merit than others...looking at you Fantasy, Inc....

Re: Robin Trower "Day of the Eagle"

I personally play this song with accents in the beginning, hitting every stroke on the snare. Watch this and you'll see what I mean, no one knows the difference either.

If you're guitarist has...

Re: Should I criticise my singer

You can be honest about it, like saying you'd prefer to have the songs sound more like the original without adjusting keys and vocal octaves. Or just say you aren't feeling it. Because this is more...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Strange. I also have a 14", along with a 20 and 24. Maybe it's a good thing I skipped the 18.

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Not too many but.....

DDrum Ash kit off eBay. Came in one 50+ lbs, smashed, rounded, remnant of a box. Didn't really recoup the losses from that damaged thing.

The only cymbals I didn't really...

Re: Ripped Bass Drum Head

If you have a clear donor head you can super glue or tape a 4x4" section over the one ply break. Won't sound as good but you'll get to see if the rip worsens. Also look at your beater placement and...

Re: Keeping time when no one else is...

Like Brent said, say it tactfully but by no means let it go or tread too lightly. I always try to keep on the beat (plowing along) regardless of what they're doing and most of the time they realize...
