Re: Played out songs the masses love to dance to

There is a cover band here called "The Geek Skuaad" (I know) whose schtick is they dress and act like nerds, taped-up glasses, plaid shirts with pocket protectors, etc. Every song is a lame, tired...

Re: I beat the crap out of my drums/cymbals and I'm proud of it:)

I play drums. I beat the crap out of my girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. Well rewarded for both.

Re: Drummers who play in bedrooms, garages, attics, and small stages!

Nobody in my band ever complained about the space I took up on a stage... except the base player. All I had was a four piece with a rack so a smaller footprint than tripod stands. He griped I had too...

Best drummer at Live Earth?

They all did their thing, but who was the stand-out in your opinion?

For me it was Stewart Copeland, but I missed alot of the concert. Tico Torres did a great job (as usual) too.

Did Buddy ever personally take on any students?

I wonder if any of you old timers (or anyone else) ever heard of Buddy Rich teaching students personally. If so who were they... And how did they survive? Just curious because I met someone who says...

Re: snared drum set

Hawk had the answer here. Electronics or triggers would be the way to go. But an all acoustic thing would be interesting too. Though financially prohibitive and limiting in use.

Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

The question sets up the answerer for controversy but is a valid one none the less. We all have a different frame of reference, experience and preferences. The nature of our chosen interest is...

Just got the sack!

I just got fired!

Here's the deal... I was playing in two bands, a trio and a five piece. The five played a gig and the bassist from the trio came out to check us out and support me. He talked...

Re: How loud?

"Dynamics?!!!... Hell, I'm playin' as loud as I can!" My favorite saying when my bandmates give me a hard time. Jokingly, of course.

I think it is a matter of feel, really. Do what feels good to...

Drumming AND singing??

How many of you sing in your bands? Lead or back-up?

I never used to sing because it was so confusing to me to drum and sing at the same time. I've only started seriously approacing this...

Re: Advice for the waiting drummer

I'm not guilty of the type of noodleing talked of here. Never have been. It was not a conscious thing though. I just get the kit set up and as soon as I do I'm off the stage and into the audience. I...

Re: Drum transport question!

Chrysler Town and Country van. Seats come out and can fit in one kiddo plus my huge kit. My only beef about SUVs is that the guard-rails in the USA were not built for them. Too low. Hear about rides...

Re: Best Drum Track Of All Time

So many come to mind.

Highway Star - Ian Pace
What is Hip - David Garibaldi
Black Dog - Bonzo
Space Boogie - Simon Phillips

Etc...

Hard to choose.
