Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

A new studio release in 2015 by Toto with Keith Carlock on the drum seat, from the teaser video it sounds quite good, I'm quite excited... it's their first release since 2006, a 9 years gap after...

Re: Meytal Cohen? She plays, right?

Re: Playing for the song, but still leaving a bit of "yourself" on the track.

First and foremost, everytime you sit behind the kit, you play and sound like you.

I played mainly in bands who wrote their own music, which mean I created and arranged all the drum tracks, it did...

Re: 2014 highlights video.

Great video and great memories, I was lucky and fortunate enough to be part of many of the 2014 Guru's events and they were easily the highlights of the year for me :)

Bring on 2015...

Re: Letting go vs focusing

It could only be related to play live for an audience, you know, the stress, the pressure, the nervousness, the apprehension, it kinda diminish your ability to play freely... which is why you feel...

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

This is hugely debatable and subjective...

Carmine will sound like Carmine

Jason sound like Jason

No one can sound and play like Bonzo.

This has happened in other bands too...

Re: Who uses Moongel?

I like moongel, it's quick, efficient, removable, useful, long lasting and can be used both for drums and cymbals.

I also use a moongel practice pad, very, very quiet and good for practicing...

Re: Band at the wrong gig. Full report - videos & photo's

Re: The "Jimi Hendrix of drums"

Mmmh... I can see the parallels, very organic performances, slightly dirty, sometimes sloppy, definitely a rough edge into the playing and completely off the wall...

Having said that, that's where...

Re: Yahoo.com 10 legendary rock drummers..

Well, it's a list from Yahoo.com according to Rob O'Connor, which is a fine list, but like all these kind of lists, it has to be taken with a pinch of salt, I'm more happy with the list that Bernhard...

Re: Simon Phillips talks 'bout open handed, dynamics, big sound and recording :)

You're all welcome :)

When someone like SP make this kind of insight of their playing and share it, it's great to listen and watch.

Thanks to Rhythm magazine for uploading these clips on YT :)

Re: Possibly my first serious thread. Sexism.

We can't :)

We may think we are, but at the end of the day, it's how we're perceived by others, male or female, even if we think we didn't make a comment regarded as racist/sexist/whateverist,...

Re: leaving the kick beater on the bass head?

Totally agree, playing with rebound but still using the heel up technique has helped/provided...
