sounds like you have not been exposed to any really good jazz

there is barely any "triplet-y swingy" stuff in any of the good modern stuff

I recommend checking out bands like Brad Mehldaus...

look at guys like Papa Jo , Sonny Payne , Chic Webb etc etc .... most of the guys from the swing era pre bebop where absolutely showmen .... they had...

throw your met on 90 but feel it on the "ands" instead of the down beat and watch your groove open up like a pop up book

it's all about the "and" with greasy fat grooves..... even if you are not...
