Re: Pearls MCX Masters Maple Snare Drum?

I have a Pearl Masters (10, 12, 16, 22) but I have had my Yamaha Steve Jordan snare for about 6 years now and I absolutely love it. Best snare I've ever used. Regarding a $250 price point, the PDP...

Re: Taking your drumming the the next level

Very good, I can definitely see how you've improved. I wanted to take jazz lessons with a professor (John Yarling), who is extremely talented, from The University of Miami's School of Frost but he...

Re: Taking your drumming the the next level

Some of the music I love currently love is not very drum inspired.
Hozier, James Vincent McMorrow.
When I do listen to Allen Stone, Chaka Khan or Snarky Puppy I'm highly inspired.

I am referring...

Re: Taking your drumming the the next level

I'm not happy, exactly! lol.
I have plenty of books, more than 50. I have only studied like 10-15 so far but even studying books hasn't helped me apply it to music, I have gained independence,...

Re: leaving the kick beater on the bass head?

I think, but am unsure, that I sit too close to the bass drum. My toms are right behind the hoop of the bass drum. What's a good distance? I sit higher that some, I find it most comfortable.

Taking your drumming the the next level

When "stuck" how or who do you study or watch to break out of a "plateau".
I have been playing drums for a very long time and studied music at a collegiate level but I now feel as if I 've hit a...

12" tuning.

Hopefully someone has a tip.
I just bought some new clear EC2's for my kit.

The heads sound great but...
I can't seem to tune my 12"x9" tom for anything.

I currently have it tuned to the...

Re: My new Pearl!

My room is small and facing it against a wall takes up the least amount of space. The acoustics in the room are terrible, I get practically no low frequencies in my room. The house is also elevated...

Re: My new Pearl!

I would have to completely agree with you, I've always loved triple flanged hoops and are alot easier to tune but with the die cast hoops the tom sounds very controlled in good ways. It still...

Re: My new Pearl!

Thank you very much! I've always been tedious about my set ups. I like to make things real "tight" and comfortable if you know what I mean!

Re: Die Cast Hoops!

I used the drum dial to get equal tension on batter and reso heads. Then I tuned it by ear. I had to tune the reso heads a bit higher than I was used to with my old pearl kit with flanged hoops. Ill...

Re: Die Cast Hoops!

I think it's just the clear ambassadors. I just finished tuning the whole kit. The heads sound papery to me since I usually use coated emperors. This set and my previous one is made of maple. Might...

Re: Die Cast Hoops!

I dont think they dampen them "too" much. I feel like they "perfectly" dampen them to my taste. Letting the drum resonate warmly without those overtones. The only thing is that the hoop is "flatter"...

I can tune triple flanged hooped toms extremely well but...
