Resonant Head Selection.

I am replacing my drum heads, switching back to Remo Pinstripe Clear, and want to know if anyone has any tips for resonant head selection. I like my toms to have a deeper tone. Would Pinstripes on...

Re: The "Captain Obvious" thread.

countless times....trying to jump in and twitch away rather than focusing on controlled movements. It happens all the time.

Re: Making a bass drum louder through Trigger or Mic?

Stay away from the technology side of it for now. If you're complaining about lack of volume, take the pillow out! That's killing most of your volume right there. Learn to tune your kick to sound...

Re: How the hell do i learn this song?

I cant actually listen to the song since I am at work and no speakers on this computer, but this is usually how I handle parts that elude me. In order to learn really fast or really complex parts you...

Re: Lost my double pedal groove

Alright man, here are a couple things that I have found really dictate this happening. I've dealt with it before also. If you start to slack, make sure you check your posture. This is extremely...

Re: Can playing on a electric set make you sound better?

Had to jump in on this one. Two things, first, what you play on an electric kit will not transfer over to an acoustic kit. I know this from experience. The rebound is different, the spacing is...

Re: Important learning areas?

Judging by the A7X in your name, I would say you are a metal fan. Nice, I play metalcore and one of the most beneficial things when writing with the band on the fly is independence. Being able to...

Re: Sick of ride cymbal ringing !!

The ring is a beautiful clean sound when playing with other instruments over the top of it, but if it is ringing to much I wouldn't advise anything drastic. I have an extra felt pinning my ride down,...

Re: Adding 13" tom instead of 8" !! Advice please

I have a 10", 12", 13", 14", and a 16", and I absolutely love it. They work very well together when tuned properly. I personally have no use for an 8" and would advise you to get the 13".

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Will I go out just to see one? No. Am I against them? Nope, if the people that are doing it are happy who's to say they can't do whatever they want to have fun. I just will not be in the crowd.

Re: What is your spring tension?

I have to say I have never gone to the extreme on either really tight or really loose....basically I have gone just tighter than the manufacturer default and loosened just a little under.

What is your spring tension?

Call it curiousity, but I am interested to hear what tension you prefer for your pedals. Do you like it tight to feel more pushback? Loose for flow? Just want to see what kind of tension you guys use...

Re: Cymbal crisis..

All of my cymbals were collected over time. I have thousands of dollars in cymbals. There is no way I could have gotten them all at once. As far as buying used....even stands...I buy everything new...

Re: Too early for a band?

At 3 months, it is too early for you to pursue a serious, gigging band in my eyes. There is still a lot you need to learn musically and grow into that position, but it is never too early to get your...

[
QUOTE=Gvdadrummasum;1015285]I get the feeling that is the kind of "name dropping" the OP is talking about

which is a bit ridiculous to me

name dropping to me is using a well know name when...

Re: Do you let "Big Names" dictate your drumming?

I don't see an issue with using names to reference material, cite work or method, or state facts. I just don't like when people are used in any way other than opinion. I am not one to argue or...

Re: Do you let "Big Names" dictate your drumming?

I think you misunderstand, I am not discounting everytime a name is dropped nor everytime a name is dropped is it used for a conveinent example. Example: I posted a thread about how to build a good...

Do you let "Big Names" dictate your drumming?

Now I am sure this will get a few people going, but I have got to get this out. I am sick of hearing people use name dropping to justify a method or reasoning versus another. Too many times I have...

Re: Warming up the entire body....how?

At most gigs the pad is all I have access to so usually I'll try to move around and get the blood flowing. As far as warming up drumwise (pad and kick), I usually go in cold also; : p

Re: Rack Question

Guess it depends on what you have to transport it in. I just leave it all together (cymbal booms and tom mounts included), but that's because I have a big enough trailer to do so. It makes life...

I work out about 3 times a week but no cardio, running, or muscle endurance exercises. What your saying is that if I do things like that that the endurance will carry over to the kit? That seems...

Re: Warming up the entire body....how?

From both of your great responses, I can tell I have not been approaching it the right way, and have definately not been warming up to the extent I really need to.
