Re: Kevlar snare shells?

Thanks Pyro! I saw this one and several others that were a composite of carbon fiber and Kevlar. I was just wondering how Kevlar sounds on it's own. God knows I don't need any more snares, or maybe I...

Kevlar snare shells?

I've looked through the forum and I haven't seen anything on this. Has anyone heard or played a snare where the shell is made of Kevlar? I tried YouTube also with no luck. I would think that the...

Re: 15" snares

Years ago I found a 15 x 10 or 12" Ludwig field drum at a yard sale. The woman who was selling it was a member of an all woman drum corps during World War II. She knew her stuff. The drum itself has...

Re: Pork Pie Hip Pig Eastern Mahogany Snare

I definitely like the "glass is half full" approach but they really didn't have any choice. All I had to do is contest the charge and bring the matter up with the consumer bureau. Credit card fraud...

Re: Pork Pie Hip Pig Eastern Mahogany Snare

I tried that. They just sent an email saying how sorry they were for the inconvenience. I had left work early so that I could make sure that the package arrived safely. I found out about the...

Re: Is this an an Acrolite?

If you ever get close to it try the old magnet test. Magnets won't stick aluminum or brass.

Re: Pork Pie Hip Pig Eastern Mahogany Snare

Just a little update. MF sent a refund without telling me why or asking if I wanted a rain check. No word from them at all. They just kind of snuck it under the door. They've lost my business forever.

Re: Is it safe to play songs that require a double kick pedal with just a single pedal?

You can always play the bass drum against one of the lower toms. You can get some amazing effects doing that. "Hot For Teacher" is probably out of reach but I've had great luck with playing the bass...

Re: Joe Morello on Buddy Rich Part 3

I got over the whole drumming as an athletic event thing decades ago. I've been lucky enough to see most of the truly great drummers and the two who irritated me the most were the two most...

Re: Anyone else dislike suspension mounts?

Personally I like the mounting system on my Saturns and the one on my Ayottes. Done well it's a great way to go. It sure beats inserting the mounting rod through the shell. I used to avoid Pearl sets...

Re: Craviotto, C&C, Brady, Gretsch, Other?

I would think Ludwig Legacys if you want a warm, vintage sound. You'll probably have to get new cymbals as well but the Legacy line is affordable. You can use the money you save to feed the poor....

Re: Reasons Not to Buy Dixon Artisan Drums?

I've got one of the Artisan/Brady Gum snares and I love that thing. I've pretty much parked all of my maple snares. It's a very versatile drum and the workmanship is as good as I've seen anywhere....

Re: Tama Power Metal snares...opinions?

I've got one of the hammered bronze 5.5" snares and I love that thing! I put some Grover snares on it along with Aquarian Vintage II heads and it sounds great. It does have a drier sound than brass....

Re: PSA - Lubricate your P85.

Lithium grease is great. You can use it on your garage door after you finish with your strainer. I've also found that "Liquid Bearings" does a great job.
