Re: Open Hand Drummer List

All excellent drummers indeed! Look up some videos on Bobby Jarzombeck, he is the most astounding open handed drummer I have ever seen.

Re: Joey Jordison

Yes, I think Joey is a great drummer as well. Good speed and power. But let's be a little realistic, he is not THE best metal drummer around. I could name several metal drummers that have more...

Re: Joey Jordison

I respect your opinion here and thank you for stating it that way. Joey is indeed a very good drummer.

There are a lot of people that need to make the distinction between, "My favorite drummer",...

Re: Open Hand Drummer List

What is your idea of an open handed drummer? I'm probably not completely open handed since I also have a set of hi-hats on my left side also, those remain shut most of the time.

But if a person...

Re: Open Hand Drummer List

Actually I am completely right handed. I just like the high-hats on the other side.

Re: Open Hand Drummer List

Thanks, it's a 22" Sabian Paragon, Neil Peart signature ride. It has a wonderful cutting sound, but it does not have much of a bell sound.

Re: Open Hand Drummer List

I play almost exclusively open handed. I have a set of hats on the right with a remote cable for a left foot pedal, I have it right next to my ride cymbal. For me, this is more comfortable and...

Re: Joey Jordison

I believe that technique and good timing are, in fact, two of the most important charicteristics of a good drummer. Speed is another quality.

Re: Joey Jordison

Decent videos. Not taking anything away from Joey because he is a pretty good drummer, but there is really nothing spectacular to his drumming. What he is doing in the videos is pretty basic stuff,...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

I'm not really sure what you question was. There is really no debate at all here. There are a lot of drummers who have both a big kit and skills. Some people like big sets, others don't. Some...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

Your right about some of the other groups, blew all thier money trying to live like rock stars after it dried up! The MC Hammer syndrome.

I don't think you can really compare Eric Carr and AVH to...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

No way. Eric Carr was an amazing drummer. I saw him twice and both times he blew me away with his solos. No he didn't just go all over his toms all the time, there is a lot to be said for tastfull...

Re: THE BIG KITS VS SMALL KITS DEBATE

It's all abut how you want you kit to look. I love big kits, they look great. But I also love watching someone flip out on a 4 piece with 2 cymbals and make it sound good.

Someone earlier in...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

Well I'll tell you what I am doing. I am searching the internet for downloads of Steve Gadd's music and videos clips. Looking through old S&G recordings and listening to the "Clap". The passionate...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

I guess I don't know what I'm talking about then, but give me a little credit. I've been playng since the 4th grade, nearly 30 years now, I have played with at least 10 bands, I have had 12...

Holly COW! Talk about forcing you opinions on other people! You said I am allowed to have my own opinion and then you spent the next 45 minutes taking it away from me. I REALLY do not appreciate...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

IMO, Steve Gadd is an excellent drummer and also very accomplished. But (IMO) if you take away that one lightning fast lick he does all the time, there isn't anything very impressive left. It seems...
