Re: Camco Oaklawn 12 14 18 with snare

It's also nice to know that you can get parts (Lugs, rods, hoops, FT Legs) from Ron if you need it.

Re: Got drum gear invention/improvement ideas?

Given three mics and a mature 3D beamforming library, I'm pretty sure I could make the EAD10's DSP look like a child's toy.

Unfortunately, it would likely take a solid year of moderately difficult...

Re: Evoking Emotions through Drums

Possibly of interest of you would be Blake Fleming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzV6MRQWdOE)'s stuff.

If you're going to get strange and artsy, you might as well take the leap and turn it up...

Re: New kit! A&F Single Tension Brass

When you're queuing up for the Tour de France, and see a guy roll up on a Penny-Farthing, it is not necessary to explain to the rider that he won't win the race and that his bike is impractical.... ...

Re: Next Stage Custom?

Alternatively, a lot of buyers get caught up in trying to find "the last instrument I will ever buy" rather than "the next kit I will own". They don't realize that "the last kit" typically happens...

Cutting down the hat rod

The more I move around the kit, the more I seem to catch a stick on the excess rod above my hat. I'm thinking of pruning it. I figure I should attach a cowbell or other accessory and make the cut...

Re: Next Stage Custom?

I'm standing in front of a SC right now and the BD hoop is finished with the same stain and poly coat as the kit.

Are you talking about the inside circumference of the hoop or something? In a...

Re: Get better Andy!

Too soon for jokes?

Cause if Andy had spent more time on Moeller, he would have had a double stroke!

Best wishes and lots of love.

Re: Crazy Ass Deals. Legit?

They are blocked by Websense as a scam site.

I recommend removing or obfuscating the link so that nobody accidentally clicks on it.

Re: Next Stage Custom?

While I don't want to address the OP's list of improvements directly.......

I need the SC to deliver a durable, well made drum set with Yamaha hardware at the ~$500 price range, so that when...

Re: Need some help choosing a snare.

Work on narrowing down your choices. You're going to have to put in some listening time on Youtube of various expositions.

Wood or metal?
Heavy/thick or light?
Modern or vintage/nouveau?

Re: Inde vs C&C

No argument when it comes to durability.

The tonal difference only affects extremely low-mass kits (iNDE, Guru, GWay), and even then, it's something that only a recording studio will pick up, or...

Re: Are you amused or offended when someone standing near you mimes your playing?

Indeed it is. It's all a show. "20 Feet From Stardom" explains it all pretty well.

Re: Inde vs C&C

I considered both, and went with George Way (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-3lQFvtWmo), and had iNDE as a fallback in case the GW didn't work out. The C&C's reminded me of our old 60's era...

Re: Drum Gear for an 8/9 year old

Children tend to lose and break hearing protection. My kids have gone through two of the $20 over-ear protectors, and only my HomeDepot lawn-and-garden ones have survived.

Re: Drum Gear for an 8/9 year old

When purchasing any instrument I am unfamiliar with, the answer is almost always "Yamaha". In your case, I'd recommend their 7-series.

Trumpet? Yamaha. Flute? Yamaha. Piano? Yamaha

Re: Drum Gear for an 8/9 year old

Almost every drummer here has a set of ZBT / B8 cymbals in their closet that they started with and don't use anymore, or use for situations where fine cymbals would be inappropriate.

You can...

Re: Drum Gear for an 8/9 year old

The silent-stroke heads that Remo markets work very well, but are best used in conjunction with low-volume cymbals (Zildjian L series for example).

It's a tough situation. Your instructor is...

Re: What is your "inner clock"?

Same tempo as "Don't Stop Believing"..

Lines are 10', spaces are 30'

119bpm * 40ft * 60mins all divided by 5280ft = 54.09 mph

I hear that runners (people who run for a hobby, without anyone...

I have a good clock from when the Speedometer in my Jeep CJ broke (decades ago)....

When the lines on the road go by at the beat of:
