Re: Ginger Bakers Latest

There wasn't anything wrong with that performance, though, right? I get he's getting along, but he's still doin' it. I only hope I'll get to be playing when I get there, too.

And his drums...

Re: Recording help

On my Zoom R16 (which also records 8 simultaneous), it boasts phantom power but only on two channels. Perhaps your BOSS is the same way? Owner's manual time?

Re: Good Studio Reference Monitors

Haven't tried those, but I have the KRK Rokit5 monitors that were also $150 each, and I really like them. Some say they might be a little bass heavy, but I've been happy with my mixes that come off...

Re: Recording help

Your overhead mics probably need phantom power. Does the BOSS recorder give you phantom power?

The BOSS sounds pretty straightforward. Plug in your mics, and record on 8-tracks simultaneously. ...

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

My money automatically switches numbered bank accounts around the world about three times a day. I am notified by proxy where it is and at all times throughout the day should I need access. 512-bit...

Re: How do you save up for gear purchases?

Gear purchases compared to the monthly mortgage and other bills are quite small. I just buy what I need when I need it.

Re: General overall "workhorse" kit choices.

Agreed. What you have is fine, just get a smaller bass drum. If you're just working and nobody cares what your kit looks like, than any 22" will do. I collected a couple of Pearl Studio Session...

Re: Ludvwig epic kits?

Perhaps I'm not understanding your question. You like the kit, but you want them to be professional quality, but you don't want to spend alot of money?

I think 'cheap' and 'professional quality'...

Re: Priced to High??

True. But unless they're hardcore jazzers, they might not appreciate what those Gretsch drums are and wonder why they shouldn't get the Gretsch Catalina new for less than half, or the Sonor Bop for...

Re: Priced to High??

I think you should just keep them. You'll take a huge hit selling them, and you never know when you'll need an extra kit (or two). If you like them and they sound good, make room for them and play...

I was involved with a friend's project of converting his back patio and neighboring bedroom into a studio, and the work he and his contractor did to make it completely sound proof was just mind...

Re: Those of you who have "sound proofed" a room for your drums...

Or you could use those Sound Off pads on your existing drums. I did that when I lived in a condo and it was great. I was on the ground floor so I didn't have to worry about floor vibrations, and I...

Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

I saw that ack clouds finish a couple of years ago and really liked it. I wouldn't got that kit if I liked the sizes. The Tama stuff is great. Starclassics are great drums. Congrats!
