Re: Head Suggestions 2010 Maple Custom Absolute Nouveaus

Nice drums! Have you tried Aquarian Studio-X coated? I have them on my RCs and am really happy with them.

Re: Intermediate drum set advice

Get yourself a used Yamaha Stage Custom, preferably in a tradeable and versatile 10/12/14/20 configuration. If possible get one without a snare drum, they're not the best. Instead find an Acrolite,...

Re: Pearl Vision VBA shell pack

Don't worry, I didn't get it right the first iteration! But looking back after numerous buys and sells I do think the sequence makes sense..

BTW my first purchase after the e-kit was a snare, and...

Re: Pearl Vision VBA shell pack

I spent years away from drumming, and then some time on an e-kit. Only the last 3-4 years I've been back into acoustics, but IMO that has been sufficient time to come up with this sequence of...

Re: Pearl Vision VBA shell pack

Spending $400 on a kit that is 2 years old and retails new for $599 is not a good deal.

Re: Need forum wisdom (fusion "standards")

"Oops" from Steps Ahead's 1984 album "Modern Times". It's been 30 years and I still haven't figured it out... But it's an awesome tune from a classic album.

Re: Yamaha Phoenix (PHX) Drums

Nothing wrong with copying Steve Jordan's set up, whatever works for Jim. If I had the money I'd probably end up with something similar!

Re: Priced to High??

Mate I'd buy them off you if it weren't for the shipping cost (I'm in Sydney, Australia). I love 18" bass drums.

Cheers,

Re: Priced to High??

There was a thread last year on these kits and someone picked up a new one for 1K, someone else bought a used one for $750.

Re: Priced to High??

Apparently you could pick these up new for about $1k recently, so yes you may be aiming too high with that price.

Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

The ones priced at 709 Euros are shellsets, the dearer ones include hardware.

Re: Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

If I were in the market for a new birch kit I'd at least have a look at the new Yamaha Stage Customs.. I'd call them semi-pro and being considerably below your $-limit for a 5-piece you could get an...

Re: Sonor Force Special Edition Extreme

The link you posted and the OP's link describe two different kits; the OP's is poplar, with 22 x 16 bass drums, whereas yours are birch, with 22 x 17.5 bass drums. Strange..

At $599 for a 7-piece poplar set: no, I don't think so.

Re: Yamaha Drums

Is that true, are all MIJ metal snares (steel, brass, copper, aluminium) discontinued? Or do the models remain but assembled in China moving forward?

May need to get me some..

Re: Best Advice You've Been Given

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took...
