Re: Tuning

Hey it's the nature of the instrument. Nothing about it is easy and simple. Although once you properly learn how to tune, it gets a little easiER and simplER.

Re: Leaving a Band-Advice!

Play the gig you agreed to play. Be a man of his word. Quit after.
Plus, other than a little gas in the car, will $75 really make or break you?

Re: Drum Snobs

You never know, maybe at that time he didn't want to talk, and didn't know how to politely say, leave me alone.
Was he still setting up his gear?
Possible you just caught him at the wrong moment....

Re: Noise complaint filed against me. (Background info included.)

Pretty harsh. Growing up my Dad was pretty much a hard-case about everything, yet he never ever told me to stop practicing, alone or with the band. He was totally fine with it. And this was upstairs...

Re: Drum Snobs

Keep in mind this can go the other way as well, where people will automatically judge you as being snobbish just because you are sporting said badges or logos.

Re: DW Custom Order Factory Production Time

In 2008 I ordered a collectors series 10pc kit in a lacquer finish, it took about 2 months to come in.

In 2012 I ordered a collectors series 6pc kit with a wrap finish, it took 4 and a half months...

Re: Pork Pie Beech snare no longer available?

Yeah they stopped making them about a year or two ago. I was looking to get one after i sat in on a friends kit one night. I thought it was an amazing sounding drum.
Are you looking to sell...

Re: The aging musician

Interesting topic. Just ask yourself, do I still enjoy playing? If it's yes, then i wouldn't worry too much about the rest.

Sure, there are physical aspects of aging that affect everybody to...

Re: DW Custom Drum Orders Matched to Existing Kit

I think as long as you send them a drum, they shouldn't have a problem matching a laquer finish.

Here's my DW drum matching expereince:

I had a DW collectors kit in Midnight Blue Glass wrap,...

Re: Hand hitting thigh while playing

This used to happen to me. I would actually get a bruise on my upper thigh.
I think this happens when your snare height and your seat height are too close together.

For me the fix was simply...

Re: Keith Moon

Well you are obviously not a Who fan, so it's clear why you cut down the band members and didn't think much of their performances. Not sure why you needed to see them 2 or 3 times, other than to make...

Re: Wow, Neil Peart kinda sucks...

Why would somebody start a thread with that sentence? Makes you look extremely arrogant.
Whatever it takes to make yourself feel better about your own playing, huh?

Re: ***Sign the DW Boycott List***

Man that sucks, sorry for all the problems you've had.
Not what you plan on when getting a new kit.
But If I were you I just wouldn't waste any more time with this.

I can say that I haven't had...

Re: I don't study anyone

Figuring out parts, studying other drummers, or whatever you want to call it, i think is healthy as a drummer. Transcribing parts from others can expose you to styles and skills you may not have come...

Re: drum snobbery

Don't let it bother you. If someone is a snob, or doesn't like what you play, nothing you can do will ever change their mind anyway. Who cares what they say.
If you like playing metal then play it! ...
