Re: Contrats To Bermuda!

Very well done bermuda, awesome work. I've been anticipating this record for ages and it definitely lives up to my expectations!

Re: Drums and head tensions

A couple of gels AND a ring? Seems a little excessive to me.

Re: Tama Silverstar Maple Limited Edition

If Tama don't make any mid range maple kits already then they probably won't have stock of asian maple to make this run of 30 drums. It would be vastly more cost effective for them to use NA maple...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi Gavin,

I read about your 40s A Ride having a split that you're worried about worsening (that's a word, right..?). There's a very talented guy in the UK who could repair that for you - Bejamin...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

I got a Sabian AA 14" Medium Crash. Good lord it was a clanker! It wound up doing spare hi hat top duty for quite a while as it wasn't even remotely appropriate as a crash - eventually sold it on for...

Re: Tama tom sizing help

The next logical step down will be 16x16. Saying that - after playing with tuning you could make a 16x14 work.

I'd personally go square sizes on the floor tom.

Re: Yet Another Sensitone Query

Old thread ressurected! (Thought i'd better not make a new one when one exists already)

So is there a difference in quality between the old version brass Sensitone and the newer Elite brass...

Re: Help with plastic souding Tama Superstar Hyperdrive, PLEASE

Absolutely. I love the resonance you can get with even top/bottom tuning. Shame it doesn't work in all situations else I'd always do it. Like you say, though, with shallow sizes it would probably be...

Re: Help with plastic souding Tama Superstar Hyperdrive, PLEASE

I would avoid putting used batter heads on as resos. Just save a little and reskin the whole set up. If you do then you'll get all the way to a better sound rather than part way and still frustrated....

Re: Drum gigs?

Judging from some drummers i've seen out - no.

Also this thread is in the wrong section of the forums, surely?

Re: Mapex Armory series

The new snare series is pretty interesting and looks like it could offer some really interesting products at an affordable price tag - an intermediate step before the BP range.

These are going to...

Re: Do Tama's Mighty Hoops Still Have Their Logo?

Mighty hoops still had the branding 3 years ago when i bought a replacement for my old Tama snare.

The others are right - buy a generic 2.3.

Re: Picking a wedding band as a musician = pain!

I'll play - problem solved! ;)

Seriously, though - you can't go wrong with a rock/pop cover band that plays a selection of classics that everyone knows. That's the best way to appeal to the mass...

Re: UK drummers - open question

I know of a few guys who offer edge recutting in the UK (Richard Newby, Gareth Heely and the guys at Highwood to name a few) - but if you can offer something they can't then there's always room. Plus...

Re: PS3 does not fit properly on my Gretsch Catalina Jazz 18" kick (Version 2014)

You could return it for an exchange and see if it's just a bad head? I had a 20" Evans EMAD2 that simply would NOT fit my kick drum no matter what. I contacted Evans and they shipped me a replacement...

Re: 20x20 vs 20x18 bass drum?

Having played the 12" deep MONSTER at LDS 2012 I have to agree with Andy on this. Never heard/felt such low end from a kick, let alone one that's only 12" deep.

Re: Got my Mapex Meridian Maple kit finally.......

Nice :) I hope Santa is good to you! I bought myself a Black Panther Blaster for christmas (waiting on Mr. Postman to bring it to me now).

Unfortunately the weakest link in the kit is the snare....

Re: Got my Mapex Meridian Maple kit finally.......

Those Meridians are lovely - For a mid range price point they are fantastic drums! I have a set of Meridian Maples myself and will be keeping them for a very long time :)

What size kick do you...

Re: Ok, who's playing over the festive season?

Quiet month this month over all - had a Birthday party booking on the 8th and we're out on New Years Ever also (both with one band, nothing with the other group). It's a smallish place outside...

I live in Somerset but haven't really been affected, fortunately. I did have a pretty hairy trip back from rehearsal the other night though!
