Re: "Oh no - Not another new bearing edge!"

When I first joined DW I had no idea how interesting I would find all the buildy stuff, probably because I didn't think I'd understand it anyway.

Suffice it to say, it's absolutely fascinating and...

Re: Guru snare competition results!

If you didn't notice all the bad things, then looks are indeed everything. That is THE most uncomfortable frock I've ever worn, and I wish I'd had a neck.

I don't know Yolanda, but I do know...

Re: Best Drum Teachers In England?

If you can get to London, there's Michele Drees. Her particular specialities are Brazilian rhythms and jazz, and she's a lovely person and inspirational teacher.

Re: Guru snare competition results!

Aww thank you, chicken! (It's a cat, btw.)

The honourable part of me is glad I didn't win the snare, as it really wouldn't have been right if I had, but the dishonourable part of me wouldn't have...

Re: Beginner looking for advice

I'd only recommend "Stick Control" if you have a somewhat obsessive personality. It's without doubt a great book but I can see why many beginners simply find it boring. If you are obsessive, then...

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

I was waiting for somebody to come up to me and say "Eyup love", to which I would have replied "Eyup chicken!"

I think it went well. The day certainly went quickly! There could have been...

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

Well, I couldn't really afford it and I didn't really need it - but I can always order one :)

I'll let Andy give details. He didn't sell "my" kit (although he told me he had, the ratbag, and...

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

It was fun thanks, although I'm exhausted and everything aches. Amedia sold quite a lot of cymbals - in fact, I sold the one I'd had my eye one, dur! I kept a lookout for you in case you were there,...

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

Hell yeah. It's got my zebrano Tour kit in the back. And the snare I'm going to win.

I was just reminiscing with Mr Madge about this time last year. I bloody LOVED it.

Next year,...

Re: 2015 Guru Snare Competition Entry Details - ENDS SOON!

Does this mean Yolanda is going to choose the winner, then? What happened to levelling the playing field by putting the names into a hat?

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

Worth every penny! I've badgered Alex into letting me help out at the Amedia stand; I sincerely hope he isn't going to charge me a tenner for the privilege though :)

James - get a flight...

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

Demonstrating you? I'd pay good money to see that!

It is a pity about David, but as long as there is another Very Nice Young Man, I'll be happy.

Re: Manchester Drum Show this Sunday - who's coming?

Hmm, I think you'll need to be a bit more distinctive than that. Place is going to be FULL of drummers, you know.

Re: 2015 Guru Snare Competition Entry Details - ENDS SOON!

It was dauntingly difficult, that's why. Yes it was possible to play the money beat all the way through - or was it? - but why on earth would you? You'd want to do something a bit more interesting,...

Re: Any big name drummers ever do something to rub you the RIGHT way?

Unbelievably, I recently received a FB friend request from a chap who became one of my heroes when we got chatting after his slot at last year's Manchester Drum Show. He was SO nice, so helpful,...

Andy, you're a gentleman.

Well FWIW I liked it a lot - it worked well, and of course I'm always a sucker for hi-hat buzzes :)

Re: Creating A Logo

Great advice. I know just such a person, but if you want to work with somebody closer to home, why not go to your local college?

Re: Creating A Logo

I didn't. People closely associated with my band, with far more imagination than me, came up with the goods.

That probably doesn't halp much, does it?

Re: 2015 Guru Snare Competition Entry Details - ENDS SOON!

I kid you not, that is EVERYTHING I had heard in my head and wanted to play, but couldn't.
