Re: Relighting my fire

i had a bit of a bad experience with trying out with a band and it was painfully clear that they were expecting something a lot better. I came away thinking that maybe I should make sure I wasn't...

Toms with specific pitch - is this a problem

I'm loving my new Mapex Saturn, but I've got a question.

My toms have really clear pitch - each tom has a note that is quite recognisable, which is great. But, to my ear, these pitches sometimes...

Re: Drum Lessons

+1

I'm 48 too and have been learning for about 18 months - weekly drum lessons, quite focussed, with about an hour a day (max) practicing. I would be nowhere near where I am now without lessons...

Re: Mapex Saturn IV

The only video camera I have is on my iPhone and I suspect that's not going to sound too good :)

Re: Tight Cymbals and odd setups...

When I started, about 18 months ago, I set up my drums to look the same as I saw online when I checked out drum kit manufacturer's sites and other pictures of drummers. Quite high (or it seems to me...

Re: Mapex Saturn IV

Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive advice on this forum, and against my better financial judgement, I finally ordered a spanking Mapex Saturn IV Exotic 5 piece in satin black with a Black Panther...

Mapex Saturn IV

OK, so I'm thinking about a Mapex Saturn IV Exotic 5 shell pack. Mostly because a) I want the extra floor tom and my current drum maker (Odery) is saying October at the earliest for a new FT! and b)...

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

I tend not to tell people - I think that's because i'd feel like a fraud because I'm not really any good (yet - I'm working on it!)

Funny thing is that it took me about 2 months of learning to...

Re: Playing to click - the mechanics

Perfect, thanks for this info - I *do* want the option to hear the click in my ear and I'd heard someone talk of a solution like this without knowing the details.

I know playing to click live is...

Re: Playing to click - the mechanics

Re: Playing to click - the mechanics

Thanks for the advice - seems to centre around not using a click for live playing...

My teacher does a lot of recording and always plays to a click - now, he has started to use the click at live...
